We are so grateful for our friend and fellow Milfordite – Jay Rowe – who stopped by yesterday to deliver a gift check for $3,000, to benefit the MPS Music Department.  Jay founded the ‘Smooth Jazz for Scholars’ concert 20 years ago, and has graciously donated the proceeds from the concert each and every year to our music department.  Jazz enthusiasts from across the entire Northeast seaboard attend this annual event – as Jay brings together a world-class lineup of jazz professionals.  Thank you, once again, Jay!  [And watch for the April 2023 event info … coming soon!].

FRIDAY-TONIGHT (12/2): Lamplight Stroll, Downtown Milford, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Join your friends tonight for the 20th Annual Lamplight Stroll, in conjunction with the Downtown Milford Business Association. This beloved holiday tradition welcomes hundreds of families each year to stroll through the DMBA member businesses and get a stamp on their Stroll Passport, while enjoying a sweet treat or warm beverage while shopping.  According to the DMBA, there will be 40+ vendors on the green, plus roaming carolers, horse and carriage rides, and a visit from Santa himself.  Click here for a list of participating businesses – and thank you Metro Star for sponsoring this event.

SATURDAY, (12/3): Milford Police Dept. to Conduct Fundraiser on Saturday: Milford Plunges for Brrristol!, Walnut Beach, 10:00 a.m. (plunge at 11)

The Milford Police Department has organized a special event – slated for Saturday, Dec. 3rd – to help raise funds in support of the Bristol Police Department after their tragic loss of two officers one month ago.  The Milford Plunges for Brrristol event will invite any brave soul to challenge the icy waters at Walnut Beach and go for a plunge.  Participants can register for $20 per person (you can pre-register, if you like) or, if you raise $100 on your own, you can register as a VIP participant.  And of course, if jumping into the Sound isn’t your thing, your donations are always accepted regardless. All money raised will go to ‘Fund the First’ campaign for the families of fallen Bristol police members Lieutenant Dustin DeMonte and Sergeant Alex Hamzy. Click HERE to register or donate. Thanks in advance for your support!

SUNDAY, (12/4): MAC’s Buoy Tree Lighting, Lisman Landing, Begins @ 4:00 p.m.

Now in its second year, the Milford Arts Council (MAC) is proud to present the MAC Buoy Tree Lighting on Sunday (12/4), beginning at 4:00 p.m.  One of the most photographed events in Milford, bring the family down to Lisman Landing and enjoy this 25’ masterpiece – made out of lobster traps, miles of stringed lights, docklines and handpainted buoys. There will be entertainment in the area, as well, along with a message from Mayor Blake and Santa will arrive via the Harbor. FUN!  And free!  Thank you to sponsors Mager & Mager Law Firm, BriarPatch Oyster Farm and Pat Devine Construction.

(Construction of this fine piece will take place all day on Saturday; if you have any free time on Saturday, it’s truly fascinating to watch – stop on by!).

Enjoy the weekend, everyone!  See you on Monday.
