April 12, 2022

Dear Milford Public Schools Families and Staff,

As we prepare for our upcoming April break, we are hoping you will partner with us once again as we work to ensure a healthy return to school on April 25, 2022.  While the Milford community had been showing a reduced incidence of COVID-19 cases in recent months, the BA.2 subvariant of the Omicron strain is now showing an uptick locally in illness related to the virus.  As a result, we will offer every student and staff member a free, COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test Kit on Thursday, April 14, 2022.  Accepting a free test kit and subsequently taking the test is completely voluntary.  Each kit contains 2 complete tests and will be offered as follows:

High Schools: Test kits will be offered directly to all students and staff members during the school day on Thursday, 4/14.

Middle and Elementary Schools: Staff members will be able to pick up a test kit during the school day on Thursday, 4/14.  For students, test kits will be offered to all parents/guardians on behalf of their student at dismissal (for those in vehicles waiting for their student and for walker pickups).

After-School Hours: Free test kits will continue to be available at the front entrances of Jonathan Law High School and  Joseph A. Foran High School on Thursday, 4/14 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. This will be a drive-thru pickup. Directional signage and staff will be available to assist you upon arrival.

If you are not able to pick up a test kit during the above times, you can visit your child’s school during the school day on Thursday, April 14th and a test kit will be provided to you at the front doors.    This cannot be done during arrival or dimissal times.

Test Timing Suggestion: Monday morning, April 25, 2022

Again, accepting a free test kit and subsequently taking the test is completely voluntary but we hope you will join your school community members as we continue to work to keep everyone in our schools safe and healthy.

Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support.

Anna Cutaia, Ed.D.
