Dear MPS Community Member,
We are honored to present the following FREE opportunity to you, thanks to the partnership of the UCONN College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources Extension program, the Milford Adult Education program and the financial support of the Connecticut Parent Trust Fund.
The People Empowering People (PEP) program has been developed to enable you to make our community a better place to live – for you and your family members.
The PEP program focuses on developing personal, family and civic leadership skills. Each weekly session includes activities and discussions centered around community engagement and empowerment, community opportunities, and action planning for change.
How it works
- Participants will attend one 2-hour session each week for the duration of the 10-week program.
- Each session is led by a trained facilitator.
- Participants will prepare a community-based project of their choosing for the Milford community.
- Participants will participate in a Program Graduation Ceremony at the conclusion of the program in June and obtain a UConn certificate of completion.
There will be two cohort offerings for this program, one meeting Tuesday evenings and the other on Thursdays, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Joseph A. Foran High School. The Tuesday cohort begins March 29 and the Thursday cohort begins March 31. In order to make this program accessible to everyone, childcare will be provided at no charge to participants, as well as a complimentary dinner for all participants and children. For those that have transportation limitations, rideshare services (Uber/Lyft) are available at no cost.
