Dear Milford Public Schools Staff and Families,
Milford Public Schools continues to emphasize the importance of the safety and security of our staff and students. We understand that recent changes at the federal level regarding immigration enforcement may raise concerns within our school community. While the likelihood of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) visiting our schools remains low, we want to assure you that we have clear protocols in place to respond appropriately should such a situation arise.
We want our families to know that we will continue to follow our current visitor management policies and protocols. Visitors must check in through the designated entry process and unauthorized individuals will not be granted access to our schools. In the event that ICE agents come to our schools, we will engage in a protocol that involves our legal counsel and notifying local law enforcement. Our administration and office staff will be trained, in collaboration with our Director of Safety and Security, to handle such situations in accordance with legal requirements.
We have already heard from some families about increased levels of concern amongst our children. Please know that we will continue to prioritize relationships and focus on ensuring that all students and staff find a sense of belonging within our schools. Our district remains dedicated to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment where all children can learn and thrive without bias, fear, or discrimination.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns that you have. We thank you for your continued support of our school community.
Sincerely,
Anna M. Cutaia, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
