Milford Public Schools is pleased to announce that Matthew Cavallaro will be assuming the role of Director of Business Services for the district. He has over 15 years of experience in financial management in the public school system.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Assumption College in 2006. He also earned his Connecticut School Business Administrator Certification (085) in 2016. He has worked for the West Haven Board of Education since 2009, where he was Grant Internal Auditor of Management & Budget. Then, he moved into the role of Director of Finance, which he has held since 2014.
Cavallaro brings a wealth of experience to MPS from his previous role including the annual preparation, implementation, and monitoring of the operating budget, where he oversaw all requests for purchased services and goods, city purchasing ordinates, and federal and state grants. He also led the business office staff through effective communication and collaboration.
“This is such a vital role in the day-to-day operations of a school system and we are excited to welcome Mr. Cavallaro to the team. Throughout the interview process, he has demonstrated the importance of putting students first when making decisions about the budget. Mr. Cavallaro is very passionate about enhancing business office practices and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role,” said Sean Brennan, Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations.
