MILFORD – The Milford Public School district is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeffrey Raucci to the position of athletic director at Joseph A. Foran High School.  Mr. Raucci takes on the position of long-time AD Anthony Vitelli, who will begin his retirement at the end of the school year.  Mr. Raucci will partner with Mr. Vitelli over the next few months to ensure a smooth transition for the 2024-25 athletic season.

Mr. Raucci has been a member of the faculty at Foran since 2018, serving as a health and physical education teacher – with additional duties at The Academy. Prior to coming to Milford, he spent one year at Luis Marin School (Bridgeport Public Schools) as a physical education teacher (2017-18).

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Raucci has been an involved and active member of the Foran High School community, particularly as an athletic coach.  He has served as the boys basketball assistant coach at Foran for many years, where he created individualized and team strength and conditioning programs throughout the season and the off-season for student-athletes.  He has regularly used the Hudl software system and other scouting tools to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of his athletes and of opponents. In addition to his basketball duties, Raucci has served as the girls track and field head coach, as well as the boys cross country head coach.  In this role, Raucci continued to emphasize personalized training plans for his athletes, and regularly monitored and communicated with students, staff, and parents regarding his athletes’ academic success.  He has also been deeply involved with the Unified Sports program at Foran, bolstering student growth and facilitating student’s social and development skills. In collaboration with his co-coaches, grant funding for the program was sought and earned.

Mr. Raucci received a Bachelor of Science degree in physical and health education from Southern Connecticut State University in 2017.  He later earned a Master of Science degree in sport and entertainment marketing/athletic administration, also from SCSU, in 2022.. Mr. Raucci will complete his administrative certification (092) in educational leadership from Quinnipiac University later this year. He also holds an interscholastic/intramural coaching certification from the State of Connecticut.

Throughout his career, Raucci has developed a passion for working with students, both as a teacher and as a coach.

“I am both humbled and excited to have the opportunity to be the next Athletic Director at Foran High School. Having coached sports here at Foran, I have seen firsthand the strong reputation of our athletic department around the state, largely due to the tireless effort and time dedicated by Anthony Vitelli over the previous two decades. Anthony has been a mentor to me over my six years at Foran as an educator and coach, helping me learn a great deal from him. He has truly served as a role model that I continually seek to emulate.

I look forward to upholding his legacy of Foran’s excellent athletics reputation, as I take on this new role next year. I’m eager to continue this work with everyone by supporting and prioritizing student success in the classroom, athletics, and within our greater community.”

Dr. Anna Cutaia, superintendent, believes the Foran athletics program will continue to be in excellent hands.  “Jeff’s dedication to health, physical education, and athletics is clear – and we are fortunate to have him on ‘our team.’ I wish him the very best in this new endeavor.”

Foran High School Principal Max Berkowitz is looking forward to Raucci’s leadership and experience at Foran to help continue the tradition of excellence of the school’s athletic program.

“I look forward to Jeff's leadership at Foran as the new Athletic Director.  His commitment to a dynamic and supportive athletics program, along with his strong work ethic, positivity, and enthusiasm will inspire our students to excel on and off the field.”
