Monday, 3/25: Board of Education Meeting, Parsons, 7:00 p.m.

The Board of Education will convene on Monday for its ‘Committee of the Whole’ meeting.  This second meeting of the month gives the Board the chance to ‘dig deep’ into current topics.  Monday’s meeting will include: Next Generation Accountability Report & District Performance Report, BOE Policy Review (Homeless Students, P-5118.1; Graduation Requirements, P-6146; Individualized Education Program/Special Education, P6159; and Remote/Online Learning, P-6172.6), 2024-25 Budget Update, and Public Comment.  All are welcome to attend and learn more about these important topics.  AGENDA   PACKET.


FOOD INSECURITY Survey: Let’s Help the Milford Health Department Better Understand the Impact and Future of Milford Food Insecurity Resources

The Milford Food Insecurity Group (under the auspices of the Milford Health Department) has released a survey to learn about the need for (generally) and the impact of (specifically) our community’s food assistance resource programs. Whether you are in need or not, we ask that you provide your input as this will help the group better understand the depth and breadth of the need in the Milford community. Your participation in this survey is pivotal to ensure a more targeted and impactful approach to address food insecurity in Milford. LINK TO SURVEY FLYER


Jay Rowe’s ‘Smooth Jazz for Scholars’ Benefit Concert Slated for April 19th, 20th

And, while we’re talking about music, let’s not forget the annual fave: Jay Rowe’s Smooth Jazz for Scholars Benefit Concert.  Now in its 21st year, Jay puts together a stellar lineup for this world-class professional extravaganza.  Tickets are already on sale; get yours now!  All proceeds go to the Milford Public Schools music department.  We’ll be reminding you over the next few weeks – but let’s help Jay continue his annual gift to our school community. CAMP: Lauralton Hall Offers Wide Variety of Interesting Summer Camp Sessions

If you’ve been thinking about your camp options for the summer, you will want to take a look at the wonderful programming offered at Lauralton Hall this summer.  Beginning on June 24th, LH’s summer program offers courses for all grades and all interests – from Dinos and Bugs, to Pirate Explorers, to STEM for kids,  to Cartooning, to Escape the Room and dozens more!  Check out the BROCHURE for more.

REMINDER: the Milford Prevention Council is hoping to gain as much insight as possible from the community at large about substance abuse, underage drinking, vaping, and mental health concerns affecting youth in the Milford community.  Please take a few minutes to provide your input via their survey.  SURVEY   FLYER.

We are pleased to share the information for this time-honored celebration in our wonderful city:  The 36th Annual Mayor’s Youth Awards.  Each year, we have the opportunity to recognize the good works of Milford’s young people.  We’ll remind you over the next few weeks, but to get started, take a look at the FLYER and follow the instructions from there.  We can never have too much good – and this is a great place to start!

This event is a bit down the road, (and we’ll remind you as we get closer) – but this one is too good pass by!  Make sure you mark your calendar for an Evening Under the Stars!  Attendees will enjoy a planetarium show (4 show times to choose from), kids activities, music, food trucks, a raffle, and much more.  Tix are $10.
