Thomas Drew Named Athletic Director at Jonathan Law HS
MILFORD – The Milford Public School district is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Drew to the position of athletic director at Jonathan Law High School. Mr. Drew replaces V.J. Sarullo, who was hired as the new athletic director at Staples High School in Westport earlier this year. Mr. Drew’s position at Law will officially begin at the start of the 2023-24 school year in August.
Mr. Drew has been a member of the Milford Public Schools staff since 2015, serving as a special education teacher at Joseph A. Foran High School. Prior to coming to Milford, Mr. Drew was a special education teacher at HK Middle School in Killingworth (2014-15) and Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School in New London (2012-14).
Apart from his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Drew has served as a vibrant member of the Foran High School athletic community for many years. He currently serves as the head coach for football at the school, as well as head girls lacrosse coach. He also has strong leadership experience as a coach in several other high school athletic offerings, including track and field, wrestling, basketball, and unified sports. He holds a coaching certification from the State of Connecticut.
Mr. Drew received a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology, the study of human movement, from State University of New York in Cortland in 2007. He later earned a Master of Science degree in special education in 2014 from Saint Joseph’s College in West Hartford. Mr. Drew will complete his intermediate administrative certification (092) from the University of New England in May 2023.
Throughout his career, Mr. Drew has developed a passion for working with students, both as a teacher and as a coach.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Jonathan Law community as Athletic Director. Jonathan Law has a long standing tradition of excellence in athletics and I look forward to working with the student athletes, coaches, and families. It is my goal to prioritize student success not only in athletic competition but also in the classroom and community,” he commented.
JLHS Principal Bryan Darcy is looking forward to Mr. Drew’s arrival. “Throughout the interview process, Tom shared his vision of growth that will allow our already stellar athletic program to get to the next level. He is someone who is invested in the well being of all our students here at JLHS. Tom has my full support and I’m confident that he will do his best to support our students, staff and families. We are excited for him to start working with us.”
