Parent Weekly 2/3/23

2/3/23

Dear West Shore Families-

It has been an extremely busy week here at West Shore Middle School!  The West Shore spirit was heard early in the week as members of the Student Council recognized the first group of World Class Wildcats! These students were recognized during morning announcements, given a certificate, and are featured on a bulletin board by the main office.  We are excited to celebrate all the good that is happening at West Shore and can’t wait to recognize even more students.

On Thursday, a Holocaust Survivor came to talk to our eighth grade students.  This was a powerful presentation, and our students really showed compassion as they listened to the speaker’s personal story.  I was so proud of each and every one of them.  We are appreciative to Mr. Acri for organizing this special event.   Also on Thursday, our ski club got another opportunity to ski at Mount Southington. The students really seemed to enjoy skiing, even in the cold weather!

Finally, students in grade 8 experienced Say Something, a virtual training session from Sandy Hook Promise. Say Something empowers students to grow a community of upstanders that looks out for the safety of their communities. Please click here for additional information.

As a reminder,  Monday is the last day for students to hand in their dance permission slips, and your child’s grades will be viewable in Powerschool today, February 3rd.
