Good Afternoon,
February is here! This year is just flying by. At the end of the month we will be opening sign-ups for our March Parent/Teacher conferences. There will be more information as the dates come closer.
Throughout the year, there are many celebrations focused on acknowledging the history and contributions of different groups. Black History Month begins on February 1. Milford Public Schools continues our commitment to celebrating diversity and the unique gifts and experiences of our Milford Public Schools students, families and staff that make our community so special. Our ongoing goal is to provide opportunities for all learners to see themselves within our curriculum. If you would like to explore some of the Black History Events events happening across the state you can visit: https://www.ctvisit.com/articles/black-history-month-activities-connecticut
As you know our onsite COVID testing will be starting next week. A letter came out from Dr. Cutaia on Wednesday with details. Below is some additional information related to the testing program:
WSMS testing date is every Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
Participation is completely voluntary. Parent/guardian permission, however, is required in order for a student to participate. Click here for the participation/consent form.
Enrollment is ongoing so parents/guardians can enroll at any time.
Enrollments need to be submitted at least 24 hours prior to the testing day for a student to be eligible for testing.
The signed consent form will cover the duration of the weekly testing program.
If a parent needs to disenroll their student, the parent needs to email the MPS program at coviddetect@milforded.org
A MPS representative will disenroll the student from the Progressive portal upon receipt of the request to disenroll.
The cut off for student enrollment will be the day prior to the testing date. Therefore, the cut off date to enroll your child for testing at WSMS will be Monday at 12:00 PM.
Students enrolled in testing will be called to the testing area on the day of testing.
A school staff member will be present during all testing as a Progressive Medical Assistants will perform the swabbing for sample collections.
Test results will be posted on the Progressive Parent Portal.
Once posted, an email will be sent to parents notifying them the test results are ready to view. Prior viewing the test results, parents will be prompted to create an account to view the results.
Progressive will notify MPS of any positive test results.
MPS will notify the Parent/Guardian of Student via email & text of positive test result.
WSMS will also receive notification of a positive result.
Our School Nurse, Mrs. Levin, will notify Parent/Guardian of isolation and/or quarantine requirements.
If school is canceled, testing will not occur that week. If there is a delay, testing for that day will be determined by Progressive.
If you would like to learn more about the Screening Program, please review the Frequently Asked Questions document from Progressive.
Finally, a reminder that on Tuesday next week the students will be starting to use their student swipe ID cards for bus attendance, book check out, and food services. The ID badges will be given out to students on Monday.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
Mrs. Keramis
