WS News!

2/21/25

Dear West Shore Middle School Families,

I hope this message finds you well! Thank you for your active participation in our recent parent-teacher conferences. Your presence and engagement are crucial to the success of our students, and we truly value our partnership with you.

As we head into the weekend, I encourage you to enjoy some well-deserved relaxation—and perhaps catch some of the basketball "Madness" that March brings!

Here are some highlights from our week at West Shore Middle School:

Sidekick Program: Last Thursday afternoon, students took the lead in fostering a sense of community by organizing cooperative activities in homerooms. From building balloon towers to engaging in mindful coloring, it was wonderful to see our students come together.

WAVE Parent, Pizza, and Plate Night: Thursday evening brought together parents, WAVE students, and teachers for a delightful evening in the West Shore Cafe. Pizza was enjoyed, and plates were creatively decorated—it was a great night with our WAVE families.

School Dance - March 21st: Tonight, our Student Council is hosting a dance from 7 to 9 PM with the theme "Around the World and Dancing Through Destinations." Please ensure you pick up your children promptly at 9:00 PM to conclude this exciting event.

Professional Development - March 26th: Next Wednesday is an early dismissal day for students. Our teachers will be engaged in our second Middle School HQI event, featuring demonstration lessons showcasing high-quality instructional practices. It promises to be a valuable learning opportunity for our staff.

Staff/Student Basketball Game - March 26th: Also on March 26th, our annual Staff/Student Basketball Game will be held at Jonathan Law at 7:00 PM. Students are welcome to attend with a caring adult. While admission is free, we encourage donations of hygiene products. We look forward to seeing you there!

Quarter Ends March 27th: The current quarter ends on March 27th. Please take a moment to review your child’s grades and reach out to teachers if you have any questions or concerns.

West Shore Middle School Handbook:

With the end of the quarter looming I thought it would be a good idea to resend our West Shore Middle School Handbook. This resource contains important information about our school policies and procedures, as well as course descriptions for all classes, including electives. You can access the handbook via this link.

Smooth Jazz for Scholars Benefit Concert: Tickets are now available for the Smooth Jazz for Scholars Benefit Concert, benefiting the MPS Music Department. The concerts will be held on May 2nd and May 3rd at 8 PM at the Parsons Government Center. For tickets, please call (203) 874-4150 or visit JayRoweMusic.com.

Upcoming Dates to Remember:
