Dear WSMS Families, As we wrap up a busy week, I want to thank you for your ongoing support of our students and school community. We hope you take time to enjoy the upcoming three-day weekend—whether it’s resting, spending time together, or just enjoying a quiet moment.
Guest Speakers in Counseling Classes: This week, our Comprehensive Counseling Classes welcomed guest speakers to inspire and educate students: Helena Duhaime (Prolete Physical Therapy) shared her experience as a Physical Therapist and used props to demonstrate her work. Margaret Valentino (Pond Point Animal Hospital) presented career opportunities for students interested in working with animals. Kyle Heilbeck (Mapletree) discussed the importance of financial literacy and managing money. We’re grateful to these professionals and our Counseling Team for providing students with these valuable career insights!
Ski Club Update: On January 16th, our Ski Club traveled to Mount Southington for an afternoon of skiing and snowboarding. Students enjoyed the slopes with their friends, creating wonderful memories while engaging in healthy outdoor activity. A big thank-you to Mrs. Morse, Mrs. Mikucki, and Mr. Zunski for organizing these trips!
Marking Period 2 Updates: Marking Period 2 ends on January 17th, and grades will be released on February 4th. This is a great time to check your child’s grades and ensure all assignments are completed and submitted. Please reach out to your child’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns about their progress.
Student Leadership Conference: On January 17th, some of our WSMS student leaders attended the Connecticut Association of Schools Middle Level Student Leadership Conference at Southern Connecticut State University. During the conference, students participated in workshops focused on leadership skills, including problem-solving, communication, and decision-making. Thank you to Megan Laudenslager and Meghan Woolf for cultivating leadership opportunities for our students!
We’re looking forward to the exciting events and opportunities ahead! Thank you for being such an integral part of our school community.
Stay warm and take care,
Carrie Keramis
