Happy Friday! Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and we continue to do some incredible things here at West Shore. Here’s a review of all the activities and events we’ve experienced together:
Professional Learning - Wednesday, November 20th
WSMS HQI Live took place on the afternoon of November 20th. We got the opportunity to experience some in-depth, engaging professional learning in the classrooms at West Shore. Thank you to those families who allowed their children to participate.
Hoop Guard Competition - Thursday, November 21st
Students worked in teams to compete in the annual ‘Hoop Guard” competition. Our fabulous Physical Education Teachers organize this event yearly, and our students LOVE it! The game combines the rules of football, basketball, and soccer. The final rounds happened on Thursday and students took it seriously.
Student Development - Friday, November 22nd
Last week the eighth grade Student Development Class welcomed Haley Forcier OTR/L to their class. Haley spoke about her career as an Occupational Therapist at Milford Health and Rehab. Then today our eighth grade Student Development Class welcomed another professional into their classroom while they continued to investigate career clusters in class. This afternoon Ashley Luchini gave an informational presentation on the education and expectations of a Certified Nurse Midwife/ Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Students seem to really enjoy these guest speakers that our counseling staff have brought into the classroom to speak to our students.
Words Matter & Say Something Presentation, Friday, November 22nd On Friday morning, Foran and Law High School Students came into each homeroom to inform students about the “Say Something” presentation. Students discussed ways we can empower “Upstanders” in our school community. They also brainstormed ways that we work collectively to build safe, inclusive classrooms and communities.
Bridgeport Aquaculture Presentation, December 3rd
Our Counseling Staff wanted to give everyone advance notice that Bridgeport Aquaculture will be presenting at our school during the 8th grade lunch wave in the library on Tuesday, December 3rd from 11:00am-12:00pm. Bridgeport Aquaculture could not make our fair, and I know many students were looking forward to learning more about their school. Only students who are interested or applying to Bridgeport Aquaculture will attend the presentation(s).
