Parent Weekly 10/18/24

October 18, 2024

Dear West Shore Families,

What a wonderful week we’ve had at West Shore! Here’s a look back at the exciting events and activities your children were part of over the past few days:

PTA Family Night – Treat Farm Corn Maze

On Monday evening, many of our families came together for some fall fun at the Treat Farm Corn Maze. The event, hosted by the PTA, was a fantastic success! Thank you to everyone who attended and made the night so enjoyable. We hope to see even more families at future events!

Parent/Teacher Conferences – Tuesday and Wednesday

Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended our Parent/Teacher Conferences this week. These conversations are essential to building strong partnerships between home and school, and we appreciate your engagement and collaboration!

Scholastic Book Fair – All Week

Our students got a chance to explore new books during their Language Arts classes thanks to the Scholastic Book Fair in the media center. A huge thank you to Lisa Vaccino for organizing this wonderful event and to our parent volunteers for helping out! The excitement around reading was infectious, and it was a joy to see so many students discovering titles that captured their interest.

Think Pink, Wear Pink Fundraiser – Friday

Today, our school proudly participated in the Think Pink, Wear Pink Day fundraiser to support the fight against breast cancer.

Special thanks to Ms. Connors and Mrs. Bowler for organizing this event in partnership with The Norma Pfriem Breast Cancer Center at Bridgeport Hospital. We were excited to welcome Meteorologist Joe Furey from WTNH and even the Mayor to help us celebrate this important cause.

Throughout the day, students enjoyed purchasing pink bracelets at lunch, and all proceeds will support breast cancer research and awareness. Our fundraising page is still active, so if you'd like to make a donation, there’s still time!

High School Fair – Tuesday, October 24

Looking ahead, we are excited to host our High School Fair next Tuesday for eighth graders. This event will provide students with a glimpse of the many educational paths available to them as they prepare for the next chapter in their academic journey. Thank you to our Counselors and Eighth Grade Teachers for making this important event possible!

Marking Period End – October 31st:

The end of the first marking period is approaching on October 31st. Grades will be viewable in the parent portal starting November 18th. This is a great time to review your child’s progress and check in on how they are doing as we head into the next part of the school year.

We are grateful for your continued support of our students, staff, and school community. Thank you for helping to make West Shore Middle School a place where learning and growth thrive.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,

Carrie Keramis

Principal, West Shore Middle School
