Dear West Shore Middle School Families,
I hope you all enjoyed the long holiday weekend. This week has been filled with notable events and celebrations at West Shore Middle School. On Tuesday, we celebrated district Teacher, Paraprofessional, and Parent of the Year recognition night. We are thrilled to announce that our very own Patty Fox won the district award for Paraprofessional of the Year. Additionally, Dr. Coloski was honored as WSMS Teacher of the Year, and Christina Marini was named WSMS Parent of the Year. I am incredibly grateful to Christina for her leadership and hard work on both the PTA and the 8th-grade committee. Our students are so fortunate to have her involvement at WSMS.
The celebration continued on Wednesday as our eighth-grade students traveled to Holiday Hill for their class trip. It was a beautiful day with unlimited food—what could be better than that? The students had a fantastic time swimming in the heated pool, playing basketball with friends, and canoeing in the lake. It was wonderful to see the students come together as a group and enjoy the day.
Thursday brought the Drama Club’s production of "Annie Jr." A special shout-out to Miss Connors, Sari Reed, and all the teachers who worked incredibly hard to put on this fabulous production. It was such a thrill to see our students up on that stage singing, dancing, and performing. They truly did an incredible job! There will be another performance tonight, so Break A Leg!
The track meet, which was postponed, will now take place on Monday, June 3rd. Our student athletes will compete at Jonathan Law High School this year. Please join me in wishing them the best of luck!

West Shore PTA Updates:

Thank you to the tireless fundraising and planning by the 8th grade committee! Their hard work allowed the 8th graders to have an amazing dinner dance last night at no cost to families. This couldn’t have been done without amazing parent volunteers. Thank you!

Estimadas familias de la escuela secundaria West Shore:
Espero que todos hayan disfrutado del largo fin de semana festivo. Esta semana ha estado llena de eventos y celebraciones notables en West Shore Middle School. El martes celebramos la noche de reconocimiento de Maestros, Paraprofesionales y Padres del Año del distrito. Estamos encantados de anunciar que nuestra propia Patty Fox ganó el premio del distrito como Paraprofesional del año. Además, la Dra. Coloski fue honrada como Maestra del año de WSMS y Christina Marini fue nombrada Madre del año de WSMS. Estoy increíblemente agradecido con Christina por su liderazgo y arduo trabajo tanto en la PTA como en el comité de octavo grado. Nuestros estudiantes son muy afortunados de contar con su participación en WSMS.
La celebración continuó el miércoles cuando nuestros estudiantes de octavo grado viajaron a Holiday Hill para su viaje escolar. Fue un hermoso día con comida ilimitada. ¿Qué podría ser mejor que eso? Los estudiantes se lo pasaron genial nadando en la piscina climatizada, jugando baloncesto con amigos y paseando en canoa por el lago. Fue maravilloso ver a los estudiantes reunirse como grupo y disfrutar el día.
El jueves llegó la producción del Drama Club de "Annie Jr." Un agradecimiento especial a la señorita Connors, Sari Reed y a todos los profesores que trabajaron increíblemente duro para realizar esta fabulosa producción. Fue muy emocionante ver a nuestros estudiantes en ese escenario cantando, bailando y actuando. ¡Realmente hicieron un trabajo increíble! Habrá otra actuación esta noche, ¡así que Break A Leg!
La competicion de atletismo, que fue pospuesta, ahora tendrá lugar el lunes 3 de junio. Nuestros estudiantes atletas competirán en Jonathan Law High School este año. ¡Únase a mí para desearles la mejor de las suertes!
