Dear West Shore Middle School Families,
Happy New Year! We trust you had a delightful holiday season. As we step into the new year, we're thrilled to unveil an exciting initiative at West Shore Middle School - our School-wide SEL/Positive Behavior Support plan, featuring Wild Cat Cash (WCC)!
In recognition of outstanding school citizenship, students will now earn Wild Cat Cash for displaying positive behaviors like kindness and good citizenship. This program is designed to foster positivity and create a supportive school environment.
Students can use their earned WCC to purchase trinkets, fidgets, and supplies from the school store during lunchtime. This not only reinforces positive behavior but also adds a fun incentive for students to participate in the program.
Twice a month, Fun Fridays will take place, allowing students to use their WCC as a lottery ticket for a chance to join a fun activity during the last half hour of school.
The primary goal of this program is to support students' social and emotional well-being and development. Research consistently demonstrates that a positive school climate positively impacts student engagement and learning.
We're delighted to share that the grant for our after-school WAVE program has been approved. As soon as funds are available, we'll kick start this program, offering students enriching opportunities beyond regular school hours. Click here to register. A reminder that next Wednesday is an early release day for teacher professional learning. School will dismiss at 12:45, so please plan accordingly.
Please be aware that the gas company is working on gas lines in the area. When they reach Kay Ave, we will inform you of any potential impacts on arrival and dismissal procedures.
We're looking forward to the forecasted snowstorm for the weekend! We hope all the kids get a chance to build snowmen and enjoy the winter wonderland. Stay safe and have a great weekend!

Paint and Pizza Night - January 24th at 6pm, for our family Paint night. Cost is $15 per person. Registration includes 2 slices of pizza, a bottle of water, and all necessary painting supplies. Estimadas familias de la escuela secundaria West Shore:
¡Feliz año nuevo! Confiamos en que haya tenido unas agradables fiestas navideñas. A medida que avanzamos hacia el nuevo año, estamos encantados de presentar una iniciativa emocionante en West Shore Middle School: ¡nuestro plan SEL/Apoyo al comportamiento positivo para toda la escuela, que incluye Wild Cat Cash (WCC)!
En reconocimiento a su destacada ciudadanía escolar, los estudiantes ahora ganarán Wild Cat Cash por mostrar comportamientos positivos como amabilidad y buena ciudadanía. Este programa está diseñado para fomentar la positividad y crear un ambiente escolar de apoyo.
Los estudiantes pueden usar su WCC obtenido para comprar baratijas, fidgets y útiles en la tienda de la escuela durante la hora del almuerzo. Esto no sólo refuerza el comportamiento positivo sino que también agrega un incentivo divertido para que los estudiantes participen en el programa.
Dos veces al mes, se llevarán a cabo los Viernes de Diversión, lo que permitirá a los estudiantes usar su WCC como boleto de lotería para tener la oportunidad de unirse a una actividad divertida durante la última media hora de clases.
El objetivo principal de este programa es apoyar el bienestar y el desarrollo social y emocional de los estudiantes. Las investigaciones demuestran consistentemente que un clima escolar positivo impacta positivamente la participación y el aprendizaje de los estudiantes.
Estamos encantados de informarles que se ha aprobado la subvención para nuestro programa extracurricular WAVE. Tan pronto como haya fondos disponibles, pondremos en marcha este programa, ofreciendo a los estudiantes oportunidades enriquecedoras más allá del horario escolar habitual. Noche de pintura y pizza: 24 de enero a las 6 p. m., para nuestra noche de pintura familiar. El costo es de $15 por persona.
