Dear West Shore Families-
Open House on Monday night was a huge success! It was great to see all of our West Shore families walking around our building with smiles on their faces. I am grateful to our staff for giving such informative presentations. We look forward to seeing you all for conferences next month.
This week we also had our first PTA meeting. We had a great turn out and invite all of you to join us next time. Please do not forget to join. The PTA is busy planning many great events for our students.
I hope you all took two minutes to view the first episode of The West Shore Insider (ok I know I was a little over the top with the enthusiasm and promise I will try and tone it down next time;) The goal of this short video is to invite you behind the scenes in our classrooms to see the amazing learning experiences they are engaging in.
On Friday our Wingman leaders trained our student Wingmen. They had an awesome experience getting them ready to lead their peers this year during advisory.
The students received a flier about after school activities in school on Friday. I have linked it here so please look it over and discuss the many opportunities to get involved with your child.
Today, the eighth grade teams welcomed Judy Keane to our building. She is from the 9/11 memorial museum, and she gave a real life perspective of that tragic day. This was an important and heartfelt presentation.
Finally, this week West Shore is excited to welcome Robin Fehr to the staff as our new strings teacher. As you know Mr. Burns was kind enough to come out of retirement to sub until we could find a permanent replacement. Well it was worth the wait! Robin comes to us with excellent experience from New Haven and has hit the ground running this week. We know she will continue to help our young musicians at WSMS grow and learn.

Wednesday, October 18th 5:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 19th 1:05-3:05 p.m. Fall conference sign up information will be live on our school website from Friday, October 6th, at 9:00 a.m. through Monday, October 16th, at 12:00 p.m.

PTA Council is organizing a virtual Meet the Candidates event for Board of Education Candidates. This will be an opportunity for all BoE candidates to answer questions that are important to all of us. We would love your input!
