Parent Weekly 6/14/23

6/14/23

Dear West Shore Families-

Well that’s a wrap! This week ended strong with our 6th grade field day on Monday and then our 7th grade Walk for Water event on Tuesday. Our students raised $1,000 for Uganda water wells.

Well we made it through another school year. It was a great year on so many levels. We were 100% back to normal, post Covid. All of our school activities were back on and the kids were loving it! We had dances, the staff vs. student basketball game and field trips to name a few. I appreciate all of the support we received from our PTA.

We are so excited for our 8th graders as they move on to high school and for our incoming 6th graders that will just be starting their journey here at West Shore.

Report cards will be viewable on Powerschool tomorrow and honors certificates will be mailed. Students have been told what the summer reading/math expectations are:

  • We encourage readers to visit the public library and take part in summer reading programs.

  • This summer you will be earning mastery points on Khan Academy  by completing the "Get Ready" course for the grade/course you will be entering in the fall.  Begin your journey by logging into one of the following:

The attached Math Log is to be completed after finishing Khan Summer work.   It will be submitted digitally to your new math teacher in the fall.  Please OPEN your copy TODAY and SAVE in your Google Drive as “2023 Summer Math Log”. Your new Math teacher will ask you to submit this at the beginning of the year.

When you return to school in August, you will also add your classroom teacher as your coach in Khan Academy so they can see all the great work you completed

during the summer.

On behalf of the WSMS staff we would like to wish you all a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing you in the fall!
