Parent Weekly 3/3/23

3/3/23

Dear West Shore Families-

We finally got our snow day!  I hope you all enjoyed the snow and the time off from school.  As always, it was a busy week at West Shore.  Teachers could be seen engaging students in high quality instruction throughout the building.  Mrs. Vaccino, our Media Specialist, organized our very own West Shore “Book Tournament.”  She sent out forms earlier this week in the school wide Google Classroom, and she asked students to vote in their favorite titles.  The top sixteen titles will formulate our bracket, and the voting will begin! I wonder what our favorite book is?  Also in the Media Center, some of our sixth grade students volunteered to read to our friends at Pumpkin Delight to celebrate Read Across America.

Next, congratulations goes out to our very own Mr. Kalafus!  He won “Best Music Score” for a move called Past Prologue at the Beaufort International Film Festival.  We are all so proud of your accomplishment!   Mr. Nunno has also been busy getting our musicians ready for the “Music in Our Schools Month” concert.  Next week on Monday March 6th, band students from Jonathan Law High School and Harborside Middle School will join members of the WSMS 8th Grade Band for a rehearsal in the West Shore Band room.  The rehearsal will take place from 9:00 a.m to 10:30 a.m.

Finally, it is great to see all of the new names and pictures posted in the front of the school honoring our next set of “World Class Wildcats.”  Thanks goes out to the students council for celebrating the positive contributions of our student body here at West Shore.  Nice Job!
