100th Day of School, Valentine’s Day & Random Acts of Kindness Day!

Hooray for the 100th day at OHS!!!

Important News

  • We will be celebrating “Twosday” on Feb. 22, 2022 with some exciting activities for our learning community including; a scavenger hunt for 2’s around the building, reading for 22 minutes, brain break exercises in 2’s, wearing 2 of something, and much more!! 

 

 

  • OHS Spirit Days-  there are some updates including a School Spirit Day so students can wear their new school spirit shirts!

 

  • Read Across America - Every year, the month of March is National Reading Month. The start of this is initiated with ‘Read Across America Day’ on March 2.  Many schools choose to engage in activities throughout the week which promote books as windows offering views of the world or mirrors where we allow children to see themselves within their text. Throughout the school year, Milford Public Schools work to help students develop a love of reading and an appreciation for where the pages of a book can take you.   

OHS Read Across America Spirit Week 

  • Vaccination Clinics: We wanted to remind everyone that the district, in partnership with Griffin hospital, has scheduled a series of vaccination clinics for our students aged 5 - 11 at our elementary schools.  The second series of clinics is next week.  SCHOOL’s clinic is on DATE  from 4:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Pediatric first and second doses will be available.  Please click HERE  for more information. If you do plan to attend a clinic please be aware of the following:Many schools dismiss and the parking lots are busy until about 3:45 pm.  We ask that you please not enter our parking areas before the 3:45 pm time.  Buildings will open at 4 pm as we want to keep students safe during dismissal.  See below for a listing of the clinics:

Spring Conferences 

We are pleased to announce our Spring 2022 Elementary School Virtual Conference Schedule: 

  • Wednesday, March 30th 5:30-8:00 p.m.

  • Thursday, March 31st 1:45-3:45 p.m. 

  • Friday, April 1st 1:45-3:45 p.m.

*Please note that we will have a modified early dismissal time on the conference days to accommodate the conference schedule.  Therefore, students will be dismissed on March 30th, March 31st  and April 1st at 1:15pm. 

Our spring conferences will be held virtually and parents/guardians will once again have the opportunity to select a conference time through My Conference Time.  We are looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s learning! Spring conference sign up  information will be  live on our school website from  February 28 at 9:00 a.m. through March 25 at 12:00 pm . Quick tip: Look for emails from “noreply@myconferencetime.com” when searching email for conference confirmation communications.

Kindergarten Registration- Class of 2035!!

Greetings, MPS Families!

We are pleased to announce that Kindergarten Registration for the 2022-2023 school year will take place during February and March.   If you have a child who will be starting Kindergarten in the fall, registration information will be posted to the district website www.milforded.org on February 22, 2022.  You must register your child for Kindergarten at the school determined by your street address, unless placed by Pupil Personnel Services.  School/Street Assignments are available on the district website under “District Information.

Students must be at least age five (5) on or before December 31, 2022, in order to register for Kindergarten.  

Current MPS preschool or Ready To Learn students do not need to complete an online registration packet.

If you need assistance with the registration portal,  please contact the main office for your district assigned school. School contact information can be found on the district website under “ Schools.” 

We are excited for your children to come to our schools!  Fully registered families, please be on the lookout for more information from your school’s Principal about an in person kindergarten event in the spring. In the meantime, click here for a sneak peek of what to expect in Kindergarten!  

We look forward to welcoming the Class of 2035!

Current preschool/RTL students will not be completing an online registration packet.  This template messaging should be sent by PreK/RTL teachers on Thursday, February 17  to  all current Pre-K/RTL students eligible for Kindergarten.

  • Friday, February 18th and Monday, February 21st: No School Winter Recess

  • Wednesday, February 23rd: Early Dismissal for Teacher Professional Learning. Students dismissed at 1:25

  • Wednesday, March 30th, Thursday, March 31st, Friday, April 1st: Early Release day for Spring Conferences NOTE: Students dismissed at 1:15 (10 minutes earlier that normal)

We have a new resource available to families that is called the OHS Care Closet.  What is a Care Closet??  Community Assistance & Resource Effort (CARE) Closet is a confidential school-based  supply pantry for miscellaneous student needs.  The items in our care closet will change as materials are received, so please check back regularly.  Please read here for more information: OHS Care Closet
