OHS Family News 11/5/21

11/5/21

Dear OHS Families,

Thankful November

A huge thank you to our staff for continuing to hold our learning community to high expectations and for making OHS a wonderful place to grow and learn.  We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated team of educators.

Thank you to the families who attended our Costume Parade and Music Night!  It was wonderful to see our students having a great time and sharing their talents.  Thank you to the families who weren’t able to attend, but helped to prepare their child for the Costume Parade and/or Music Night-- without your support it wouldn’t be possible.

PTA Information

  • Online Book Fair - once the link is ready, it will be sent to families.  Stay tuned for more details!

  • Fundraising Opportunity-  the OHS PTA will be sending home information about an exciting and easy fundraiser called Boon Supplies (formerly known as Mixed Bags).  This fundraiser begins 10/18/21 and will run for 3 weeks.  More information will be sent home or visit the website:

https://www.boonsupply.com/col...

  • Thankful Turkeys- The PTA would like to decorate the front lawn of the school with Thankful Turkey signs for November.  Exactly how they did with the hearts last winter.  For new families you would purchase the white weather resistant sign (shaped like a turkey) and decorate however you would like for display on the top of the lawn running alongside Marino Dr.  When decorating just keep in mind the weather elements; permanent markers/paint and securing any items to last the week it is on display.

Each sign is $15.  Orders will be due by Thursday, Nov. 4th (but reach out if you still want to order)

You should receive your sign to decorate the weekend of Nov. 13th and decorated signs will be collected on Nov. 19th.

Music Night- 11/1/21- The OHS Band and Strings performers put on an amazing show!

Dr. Nobili came in to kick off our math unit titled Groceries, Stamps and Measuring Strips. The students had a blast viewing the "grocery store" and sharing their math thinking about grouping strategies. There were discussions around repeated addition, skip counting and doubling strategies. Check out the work below!  #HQI #MathIsFuntastic
