Dear OHS Eagles,

We were very excited when Heidi, a therapy dog, visited our school this week. The students had the wonderful opportunity to interact with the therapy dog, and it was amazing to see how much happiness and comfort the dog provided. It was a paws-itively delightful experience for everyone! The visit helped create a calm and positive atmosphere, and Heidi truly brightened the day. Check out some photos from her visit. Heidi

Read Across America Week is next week!  Below are the exciting ways we will celebrate our love for reading at OHS.  OHS Read Across America Week-  Family flier      Bookmark Design Contest

Literacy Highlight- Another powerful component of Bookworms is Partner Reading, where students collaborate to strengthen their fluency and comprehension. This method helps them develop confidence as readers by working with a peer.

Grade-Level Focus:

  • First Grade: Students reread texts to improve fluency and deepen comprehension.

  • Grades 2-5: Students extend their thinking by discussing a second key focus after reading.

How Families Can Support at Home:

  • Pair up and take turns reading a page or paragraph with your child.

  • Ask follow-up questions after reading, such as

    What was this part about?

    or

How do you think this connects to the bigger idea?

  • Encourage your child to read with a sibling, friend, or even a pet to build confidence!

Spring Conferences are quickly approaching, please see the conference section below for more details.
