Dear OHS Eagles, 

Thank you to everyone who supported our Open House last night!!  We are also so happy to share our learning community and thankful for your support. 

Please read below for important information:

Important Dates:

  • September 20th- Early Release at 1:25pm for students

  • September 25th- No School (Yom Kippur)

  • September 27th- Picture Day- we are using Robert Taylor Photography this year

  • September 29th- Wear Gold for Pediatric Cancer- OHS Spirit Days

  • October 16th- 20th- Book Fair

  • October 18- 20th- Early Release for Parent Teacher Conferences

  • October 25th- Early Release at 1:25pm for students

Picture Day-  Robert Taylor Photography will be here on Wednesday, September, 27th for Picture Day.  You can order pictures through the link below:

Arrival & Dismissal-  Please see the important information below and in this letter :  

  • Please remain in line and DO NOT pass other cars.  The passing of cars presents a safety issue.

  • Please load/unload your child in a timely manner as we are dependent on each other to make our dismissal line move along smoothly and efficiently. Thank you! 

  • CAR PU TAGS- Please make sure you are using the car tag from this school year.  The numbers change from year to year.

  • Cars can start to enter the driveway at 

    • 8:15am for arrival

    • 3:15pm for dismissal

  • Students can exit vehicles at 8:20am.  Before 8:15 am, please wait at the top along Clark Hill Rd as staff is still arriving and parents are dropping off to the YMCA program. 

  • For safety reasons, students should exit on the right side of the vehicle.  Adults should remain in their vehicles 

  • Cars should not utilize the bus/staff driveway (second driveway)

Preschool Families:  

  • Please arrive between 8:35 am - 8:40 am

  • Parents can exit their vehicles

OHS PTA Information

Check out the OHS PTA's first fundraiser of the year!  Photography by Elizabeth Marie is partnering with the OHS PTA to offer photography sessions to benefit the OHS PTA!  To schedule a session, click here!  

Giggling Pig-  The OHS PTA is hosting a special “Hands-On Art Program,” sponsored by Milford's own famous Art Studio, “The Giggling Pig.”  Reserve your spot and enjoy 6-weeks of fun-filled, after school art classes, every Wednesday beginning September 27 to November 29. The fee for these fun-filled 6 week creative Art Classes will include canvas and water color Autumn themed works of Art!  The price for this 6 week art program is listed on the Sign-up link and QR code and a sibling discount will be offered!

PTA Council-  The PTA Council is organizing a virtual Meet the Candidates event for Board of Education Candidates.  This will be an opportunity for all BoE candidates to answer questions that are important to all of us.  We would love your input!  Please complete the following form and share any questions you have for the candidates.  We would appreciate all questions to be submitted on the form no later than Friday, September 24th. 

OHS Spirit Days-  Please see the document for the OHS Spirit Days.  This is a working document, so please check back as some dates may change or be added.  

Birthdays/Celebrations- At the elementary level, we do not use food as a part of our class celebrations (birthdays, holidays, end of year parties).  Please do not send or bring in food or candy to your children's classroom for parties or other reasons.  For birthdays or other special events, we invite family members in to read a book or do a craft with students as part of the celebration.  Please coordinate any visits with the classroom teacher well in advance. 

Parent Teacher Conferences-  

Greetings, MPS Families!

We are pleased to announce our Fall 2023 Elementary Conference Schedule: 

  • Wednesday, October 18th 1:45-3:45 p.m.

  • Thursday, October 19th 5:30-8:00 p.m.

  • Friday, October 20th 1:45-3:45 p.m.

*Please note that we will have a modified early dismissal time on the conference days to accommodate the conference schedule.  Therefore, students will be dismissed on October 18th, October 19th, and October 20th at 1:15pm. 

Parents/guardians will once again have the opportunity to select a conference time through My Conference Time.   All conferences will be in person unless a  parent/guardian requests a Google Meet link directly from the teacher.  Fall conference sign up  information will be  live on our school website from  Friday, October 6th, at 9:00 a.m. through Monday, October 16th, at 12:00 p.m.  If you prefer a virtual session, please contact the teacher to request a Google Meet link to conduct your conference virtually after you have confirmed your conference time through My Conference Time Online Scheduler.   We are looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s learning! 

Quick tip: Look for emails from “noreply@myconferencetime.com” when searching email for conference confirmation communications. 

Friendly Reminder: No Food or Drink on School Buses:

Just a friendly reminder this year.  Food and drinks are not allowed on our school buses when students are being transported to or from school.  Consuming these items while in transit can cause a safety concern; your bus driver will be reminding you as the school year gets underway.

Chromebook Insurance: You Can Renew Right on the Parent Portal

Our low-cost Chromebook Insurance program is WELL worth the annual renewal fee ($25 per year).  You can reserve your Chromebook insurance right on your Parent Portal account.  If you have any questions, please contact our BIDS dept. at (203) 783-3446.

Please make sure your child has their badge each day for school so they can use it for lunch!

Community Connection Center

Milford’s Community providers information & updates can be found on our NEW CCC district website along with the CCC’s programs! To locate the CCC’s web page go to Milford’s main page and click on the Menu tab & scroll down under district Information to find the Community Connections Centers!  This week's CCC News contains links to The Circle of Security Parenting Class, Milford Public Library's Children's Programs, CT's  Coastal Guide and Fall Festivals.

Remember that the CCC Website  is updated with links to community  resources.
