HIRING MATERIALS
Education is a people business. The people whom we hire are the key to our success and therefore the success of our students. Arguably, hiring is the most important thing we do.
In our hiring, it is critical to keep in our thoughts that it is the goal of the MPS for learners to:
be curious and challenge themselves
comprehend, organize and analyze information in order to solve problems and articulate solutions
engage in self-care to result in a healthy lifestyle
identify and regulate their emotions and behaviors, set and achieve important personal and academic goals, use social-awareness and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive relationships, and demonstrate decision making and responsible actions to achieve success in school and life
be global citizens who think and act beyond self towards service to others and their community
be imaginative, curious, and challenge themselves to make, shape, and invent their learning experiences
To accomplish this, we must hire educators and staff who share that vision and demonstrate a commitment to high-quality instruction. We also must intentionally build a representative and inclusive workforce, given the substantial benefits to students and the district as a whole.
Our process has been designed to ensure equitable, excellent hiring practices. Please start here and use these materials, each time you set out to hire someone.
Before you begin, ensure that all staff members who will participate in the hiring process have received anti-bias training within the prior two years. If anyone needs to be trained, use the video and plan provided below. These training materials are intended to be used collaboratively.
