Good Afternoon Meadowside Families,

Good Afternoon Meadowside Families,

HEART is certainly in the air today!  We have our Sweetheart Dance this evening -- thank you PTA -- and our HEART Assembly this afternoon. This month’s assembly focused on the importance of showing a positive attitude and we couldn’t be more proud of our HEART award recipients from across all our grades!

STEM Highlight: The STEM lab was busy this week!  Check out our fourth and fifth graders!

Valentine's Day is this coming Tuesday!   We are so excited that Valentine's Day is coming soon -- we are after all the school with HEART so it is one of our favorite days of the year!  Please remember that while students may pass out valentine's day cards -- look for more information from your child's classroom teacher regarding their specific classroom plans -- students may not pass out or share any food or candy due to allergy concerns.

This week's Community Connection Center's Newsletter: This week's Community Connection Center's Newsletter (CCC News)  has links for 211 Tax assistance, Learning about Budgeting for young & old &  CT FoodShare on February 14th.  Each week information about Milford's providers & their programs are listed . You will also find ideas for family friendly activities & places to visit.  And don't forget that the CCC website is also updated with links to community resources. Have a great week!

News from the PTA:

  • Loose Change Drive began this week.  The class that donated the most money will win a prize.  Donations can be given to classroom teachers.  All donation types and amounts are appreciated. Currently Ms. Vagnini’s class is in the lead and Mrs. Bellizzi is just $1.94 behind them.  It is a close race!
  • Family Science Night:  Save the date - March 15th from 6-7:30. More information to come.

Attendance Reminders: As we progress through the second semester there are just a couple of reminders that we want to share about attendance.

In the event that your child is out sick, please remember to sign in to Powerschool to share that your child is absent for the day.  If we don’t hear from you in the portal, your child will have an unexcused absence and you will get a notification that your child is out.  Our attendance policy does state that after 9 Parent Excuses (Yes, indicating your child is out sick in the portal is a Parent Excused Absence), you will need a note from your child’s doctor for additional absences to be excused.

Having trouble with the portal?  Please don’t hesitate to call Mrs. Stebbins on our main office line 203-783-3555.  She would be happy to help you or refer you to our Technology department if she can not.

Our doors open for students at 8:20 with the expectation that students are in their classrooms ready to learn by 8:40. Students arriving after our 8:40 bell do check in with Miss Megan prior to going to their classroom -- and are marked tardy within powerschool.

Please find the district’s full attendance policy here including the guidelines for Parent Excused Absences and what constitutes chronically absent and truancy.

Thank you for everything you do to help your child get to school on time and ready to learn! We appreciate your support.
