Meadowside is thrilled to announce that one of our fabulous fifth graders, Liliana, is a finalist for Connecticut Kid Governor! Please join me in congratulating Liliana and wishing her well on her run for Governor!
Connecticut’s Kid Governor® is a national award-winning civics program created by The Connecticut Democracy Center at Connecticut’s Old State House. The program is presented with partnership and funding partnership from CT Humanities. This ground-breaking approach to civics education immerses fifth-grade students in learning about state government, elections and voting, and civic participation through a real-life election for their state’s Kid Governor. Each officially-registered fifth-grade class in Connecticut can participate by nominating one student for the election, voting in the election, or both. Nominees research and run on platforms that address community issues they care about, and work with classmates to create campaign videos. Fifth-grade voters view the videos of seven finalists during the Statewide Election and vote for the candidate and platform they want to support. The elected Connecticut’s Kid Governor serves their constituents for one year in an active leadership role. Kid Governor was not the only excitement at Meadowside this week!

Next week is a busy week too! We have our Thanks-for-giving food drive, Fall Photo Day, Veteran’s Day Assembly, and World Kindness Day observance!

- Wednesday: School Photos: LifeTouch will be here for student photos! Our picture day is scheduled for Wednesday November 9th -- with makeups on December 13th. Please click HERE for more information.
- Wednesday: Family Math Night 6:00 - 7:30
- Thursday: Veteran’s Day Assembly: We are encouraging our students to wear red, white and blue.
- Friday: Kindness Day Observed: We are encouraging our students to wear messages of kindness or their Team Meadowside shirts and will be inviting all our students to sign a kindness pledge.
- All Week: Meadowside will once again be participating in the Thanks-For-Giving Scouts Annual Food Collection drive. We will have donation boxes at our school from through the end of next week. All Students, Staff and Families are invited to donate canned or shelf-stable food. Please click HERE for more information. Thank you in advance for your donations!
In this week's CCC Newsletter: This week's Community Connection Center's Newsletter (CCC News) has information about Veterans Day and Daylight Saving Time. Just to mention two items. Each week information about Milford's providers & their programs are listed . You will also find family friendly activities & places to visit. And don't forget that the CCC website is also updated with links to community resources.

- FUN RUN - What an amazing outpouring of support from our entire school community! We exceeded our goal and are so excited for our November 15th PTA meeting (6:00pm) so we can start planning the rest of our year! If you are still interested in supporting the PTA, you can make a donation here. If you haven’t officially joined the PTA, that can be done in our PTA store, membership is towards the bottom.
- Family Math Night - November 9th from 6-7:30pm, click here for more information. We are also looking for volunteers, sign up here.
- Spirit Wear - This is the only opportunity to order spirit wear this school year. Orders must be placed before November 19th. Check out our products and place your order at https://meadowsidepta.memberhub.com/store. Orders will be sent home with students in mid-December, if these items are meant to be a surprise please email us at ptameadowside@gmail.com and we can set up a different delivery method.
- Fundraiser for the fifth grade committee: The fifth grade committee is raising money to help fund their end of elementary school celebrations. Check out the catalog here and use student code NGE4499. Thank you for your support.
