Good Afternoon Meadowside Families!  We had so much fun this week on our one-hundredth day of school -- from our Kindergartners to our Fifth Graders and even our staff, we were amazed at how our students aged overnight … and definitely relieved to see them returned to their true ages again this morning!  Here are just a few pictures:

Across the district, our school counselors have been developing and implementing lessons as parts of our comprehensive school counseling curriculum.  Click here to see some of the focus areas Miss Smith has been talking with classrooms about from our first 100 days as well as what is coming next.

As part of our Meadowside Motivates initiative, all our classrooms set classroom goals earlier this year.  This month we will be talking with our students about setting and monitoring individual goals.  Be on the lookout for more information from your child’s classroom teacher.

Monday is Valentine’s Day!  Thank you to our Food Services for sharing a special treat with our students!  Valentine’s Day is one of our favorite days -- it is all about HEART!  So feel free to wear a HEART shirt, a Meadowside Shirt or Pink, Red and White Colors on Monday to help us spread HEART!

Next Week is also National Random Acts of Kindness Week:  Thursday, February 17th is National Random Acts of Kindness Day.  Follow the 21-22 Random Acts of Kindness Week  schedule to participate in completing kind acts all week.

Swipe Card Rollout- We are pleased to inform you that beginning next week, elementary schools will be rolling out a student swipe card system.   All students will be issued an ID card that is specific to them. To begin with, the cards will be used for school bus attendance and checking out books from their school libraries/media centers. The cards, along with a lanyard and plastic card holder, will be distributed to the students beginning on Monday.  Please note:

  • Students will be required to carry their cards at all times during the school day.  They can wear them so they are accessible to check in on the bus, or if walking or being dropped off have them in their backpacks for arrival.

  • Lost or damaged cards should be reported to our school secretary, Mrs. Stebbins, at jstebbins@milforded.org.

  • If you have any questions please call Judy Messologitis at 203-783-3438.

Our PTA coin drive in support of our HEART program continues next week.   Coin Drive - Help PTA support the HEART Program by sending in any change donations to your child’s classroom teacher.  The class that raises the most money will win a prize!!  Thank  you to all our families who have sent in spare change already!  We are so appreciative of your support.

If you haven’t had a chance to review, please take a moment to read Dr. Cutaia’s 2/8/22 Mask Update letter.
