NEWS

Good Afternoon Meadowside Families,

It was great to connect online with so many of our families during this week's conferences.  We always appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to talk about your child’s progress in school.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any follow-up questions.

Speaking about connecting online -- if you are worried you have missed something - you can always check out our Meadowside Webpage -- Previous Newsletters as well as school announcements and photos can be found there.

Our Read-A-Thon continues into next week  -- Thank you to our mystery guest readers Ms. Lizabeth Niemczyk and Mrs. Grace Stern for their reading -- we loved both stories and the fun messages they shared.  And thank you to our over 90 families that signed on each night!  I loved hearing from our students how the characters in Boris and Bella showed HEART and, after reading Bats in the Library,  what each of our students would do if they crept into our Meadowside Center at Night! Asking students to reflect on their reading is a great way to help build comprehension.   Next week we have two guest readers from the Milford Public Library who will be logging on Tuesday and Thursday night to read with our students!

As a reminder, our evening reading is part of  “Cooper’s Reading Challenge.” The Read-A-Thon is our PTA’s biggest fundraiser helping to support student programs throughout the year.  Donations can be made online here or sent in to school.  **All money sent in to the school for PTA must be placed in an envelope that says PTA, your child’s name, and their teacher’s name.**  The donation form is on the back of your child’s reading log.  Forms can be sent in anytime next week.

We are one week away from our Costume parade - so let’s keep sending HEARTfelt good vibes for nice weather!  On Friday, October 29th our Meadowside students will be able to wear their costumes and participate in a brief parade outside with their grade level. Families will be invited to attend in a designated viewing area. More information including specific COVID safety protocols for visitors and students can be found here

Goodie Bags - at this time we are continuing to ask our families to not send in goodie bags or other items from one family to the rest of your class.  While in-person visitors are not currently allowed,  an alternative option for celebrating special occasions is to be a virtual “mystery reader” to read a book in their child’s class.  This should be worked out in advance with the classroom teacher so the teacher can set  up a google meet with the family.

Library Media Center Update -We are excited that our school libraries are fully open this year to students and staff.  Book circulation has been very successful and our students will be learning how to self checkout! There is no limit on the number of books students may take out, though popular series or titles are based on availability and demand.

In this week's CCC Newsletter you will find information about the CT Dental Health Partnership  The Hidden Costs Credit Score Apps and great ideas for using your fall leaves!   Click here for this week's CCC Newsletter! And don't forget that the CCC website is also updated with links to community resources. Have a great weekend!
