NEWS

Good Afternoon Meadowside Families,

Thursday Meadowside went Gold  to raise awareness and support for pediatric cancer. It was powerful to see so many of our students and staff wearing gold to support this cause.  Feel free to learn more and raise awareness by visiting American Childhood Cancer Organization.  We appreciate so many of our students going gold with us!

Thank you to MPS Food Service for providing a special treat for all students on Thursday with lunch. What a nice way to celebrate our first full month of school being complete!

Water Bottles: Please remember to send in a reusable water bottle with your child.  They have access to our water stations and can refill as necessary throughout the day.

Face Masks: Please remember to send your child with an extra mask in their backpacks.

Community Connection Center: In this week's CCC Newsletter you will find information about the Center for Children's Advocacy and great places in CT to pick your own fall produce! There are spaces open in both of our CCC programs.  Click here for this week's CCC Newsletter! And don't forget that the CCC website is also updated with links to community resources. Have a great weekend!

Reminder: Bus Seating:  To further our safety efforts for our learners, our Elementary Schools in collaboration with our Student Transportation Provider have developed bus seating charts with assigned seats.   This process will enhance our contact tracing process to minimize the number of student quarantines needed should an individual on the bus test positive. Students have been assigned seats and we have added stickers with row numbers above the window to assist students with locating the proper seat.

Parents and caregivers can help by:

  • Reminding your child to sit in their assigned seat at all times. Having your child stay in their assigned seat will help support their safety and the safety of others to stay healthy while on the bus.

  • Having students wear their masks for the entire ride.

These health and safety strategies help us reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus in our school community.  We thank you for your continued cooperation and partnership during these challenging times.

Reminder: Protocol for Contacting Tracing after school hours and on weekends: When a school receives notification of a possible positive COVID-19 case there may be times particularly when we are notified after school hours or on weekends, that families will be sent an email indicating that their child is to stay home the next school day and that a school nurse will contact the family to discuss the matter and provide guidance on what happens. We thank you for your cooperation as we continue to navigate through these times together and put safety first.
