Good Afternoon Meadowside Families,
As we head into the long weekend, we wanted to take the opportunity to remind our parent community of the importance of monitoring their children’s use of technology. With the increasing amount of time kids spend online, it’s essential for parents and guardians to stay engaged with their children’s digital activities, monitor all online interactions with others, help to set clear boundaries, and engage in open communication about safe internet practices.
Chromebooks and Securly: We also wanted to take a moment to remind our parent community of the resources available online related to students’ district issued chromebooks and their use. In addition to the information on Chromebook insurance and our Acceptable Use Policy, our district Chromebook 1:1 page has information on Securly. Securly is a websafety and filtering tool utilized by the Milford Public Schools. Parents and Guardians, you can use the securly app to monitor your child's Chromebook use at home. You can block sites that you do not want your child on as well as set the hours your home wifi will connect with the device. Securly is a powerful tool for helping set and monitor online expectations.
Google Meet: We also wanted to take the opportunity to share with our families that at this time Google Meet is no longer accessible for elementary students to use from home.
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders: We had some additional queries about Arrival and Dismissal this week with the colder weather upon us and more traffic at drop off and pick up. Please take a moment to review the following information:
Students being Dropped off by car in the morning:
Both the inner and the outer loop can be utilized for drop off in the morning; however, the outer loop is only for families whose children can exit the car independently. The inner loop is for families who need to assist their children exiting the car and for families whose children can exit the car independently.
Students should not be dropped off until after 8:20, at which time, children should utilize the sidewalks to Door 15 opposite the small playscape.
If a student arrives after 8:40, families will need to park and bring their child to the front lobby where they will be checked in with our Greeter.
Students being Picked up by car in the afternoon:
Afternoon car pick up should take place in the inner loop only - the outer loop is only for morning drop off. This is important for the safety of all students.
