News

Good evening Meadowside Families -- I am starting off with a lot of HEARTfelt THANK YOUs this week!

Thanks to our PTA for sponsoring our Scholastic Book Fair this week.  Our students were super excited to pick out their own books -- thank you to all our parent volunteers who helped our students shop!

And thank you also to the PTA for organizing and hosting our Trunk or Treat last friday night.  Our students -- and their families -- had so much fun in their costumes.  From the amazing trunks to the dance party, fun was definitely had by all!

Thank you to our friends in the Milford Fire Department! Senior Fire Inspector Marc LeBreque visited our fourth and fifth grade students Thursday to talk about fire prevention and introduced this year's Fire Prevention Poster Contest.  Students are excited to work on their posters!

Thank you to all our parents and guardians who joined us for parent teacher conferences these last three days.  We really appreciate meeting with you and our ongoing partnership in support of your child’s academic and social emotional growth this year.  If you have any follow up questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our staff.

While we are giving Thanks -- I would like to take a moment to introduce our Annual Thanks-for --Giving Food Drive sponsored by the Scouts.  Starting October 30th through November 10th all students and staff members are invited to donate canned or shelf stable food items to our collection box located in our lobby.

Congratulations to our four fifth grade students who ran for Kid Governor this afternoon.  They spoke passionately about their platforms and should be so proud.  Congratulations to Aayrn for being our finalist who will be moving forward onto the statewide competition with her platform “Stop Hurting the Environment by Smoking.”

STEM Lab Highlights:

Lost and Found: As the weather is getting cooler in the morning, many children are wearing in coats and sweaters and we have found that our lost and found collection is growing - especially with clothes from the playground.  Please take a moment, check that you are not missing anything … and take a moment to write your child’s name on their coats.  This way we can make sure that they get back to the right owner if they are returned to us! Here is a quick picture of what we still have left.

For directions of how to fill out the student attendance form please click HERE.  As a reminder each student is allowed 9 parent excused absences in the school year any further absences can only be excused with a doctor’s note.  If you have a change in dismissal, please remember to send in a note, or email your child’s teacher and our secretary Miss Jones (jjones@milforded.org) and our greeter Mrs. Megan Ansaldo (mansaldo@milforded.org).  It is important to email all three in the case that one or more of our staff is absent that day.  Additionally, please be patient with us as we ask for IDs at the beginning of the year.  It is important that our staff can confirm who you are prior to releasing your child -- this is for the safety and protection of our students.  As we get to know you, we won’t ask for your identification every time - however, if our regular staff is out, we will need to do so again.
