Good evening Meadowside Families

Thank you to all our parents and guardians for joining us at our open house last night. It was wonderful to see so many families and be able to share our excitement for the upcoming year.

If you missed our Open House, you can check out our welcome video here as well as an introduction to our staff here.  Interested in learning more about our MPS Vision of the Learner and the Search Relationship Framework, check them out as well as other resources on the MPS Teaching and Learning Community Hub.

Another great opportunity for our parents to visit in our classrooms is during Parent Teacher conferences which are scheduled later this fall on Wednesday, October 18th 1:45-3:45 p.m. , Thursday, October 19th 5:30-8:00 p.m. and Friday, October 20th 1:45-3:45 p.m.  Parents/guardians will once again have the opportunity to select a conference time through My Conference Time.   All conferences will be in person unless a  parent/guardian requests a Google Meet link directly from the teacher.  Fall conference sign up  information will be  live on our school website from  Friday, October 6th, at 9:00 a.m. through Monday, October 16th, at 12:00 p.m.  If you prefer a virtual session, please contact the teacher to request a Google Meet link to conduct your conference virtually after you have confirmed your conference time through My Conference Time Online Scheduler.   We are looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s learning!  Please note that on all three conference days we will have a modified early dismissal time to accommodate the conference schedule.  Therefore, students will be dismissed on October 18th, October 19th, and October 20th at 1:15pm.

Friday Meadowside is celebrating Dot Day!  Join us by wearing dots to school!

Our students definitely took on our Challenge Accepted Theme already in the STEM Lab this year. Check out some of examples of how students in each grade level approached their STEM Challenge:

Check out some photos some Challenge Accepted moments in our Media Center as well!

Attendance and Dismissal Reminders: If your child is absent, please log in and report their absence through the  PowerSchool Parent PortalIf you have a change in dismissal, please remember to send in a note, or email your child’s teacher and our secretary Miss Jones (jjones@milforded.org) and our greeter Mrs. Megan Ansaldo (mansaldo@milforded.org).  It is important to email all three in the case that one or more of our staff is absent that day.  Additionally, please be patient with us as we ask for IDs at the beginning of the year.  It is important that our staff can confirm who you are prior to releasing your child -- this is for the safety and protection of our students.  As we get to know you, we won’t ask for your identification every time - however, if our regular staff is out, we will need to do so again.

Milford Food Services Reminder: The following changes are in place regarding our Milford Food Service offerings:

  • Breakfast meals will be FREE OF CHARGE for ALL students in the Milford Public Schools.
  • For students who QUALIFY for free or reduced-price meals, (determined by the completion of the Free/Reduced Price Meals Application or via Direct Certification), lunch meals will continue to be offered free of charge.
  • For students who DO NOT QUALIFY for Free/Reduced-Price Meals, lunch meals will be offered at full price which is $3.35.  Click here to link to the Food Service Webpage for information on buying school lunches.
  • If you have questions, please call the Foodservice Department at (203) 783-3490.

We strongly encourage everyone to review the Free/Reduced Meals Application as many of the income benchmarks have changed over the past 2 years – and you may now qualify even if you haven’t in the past

Chromebook Insurance Reminder: You Can Renew When You Enter the Parent Portal - Many parents have reached out to us to ask about Chromebook Insurance.  We are happy to report that our low-cost Chromebook Insurance program is WELL worth the annual renewal fee ($25 per year).  If you’ve got kids, then you already know there’s always the potential for something to happen to the Chromebook during the year: cracked screen, broken hinges, water damage, just to name a few.  Do yourself a favor. Purchase the insurance – it will give you peace of mind and save you a lot of aggravation when something goes wrong.  You can renew your insurance right on your Parent Portal account when you first sign in next.  If you have any questions, please contact our BIDS dept. at (203) 783-3446
