Good evening Meadowside Families

We had a great first week here at Meadowside - From our Kindergarten Meet and Greet on Tuesday to our opening three days of school-- it has been an incredible week!  Throughout the building, children have been getting to know each other, their teachers and have jumped right back into learning -- and having a lot of fun with it all!   As a team we are so excited to be on your child’s journey this year!

Our PTA is looking forward to seeing families tonight at our PTA Back to School Picnic.  Meet everyone on the playground side of the building  from 5:00 - 7:00 to reconnect and enjoy being together!  Bring a picnic or check out the food trucks!

Thank you to our PTA for providing a yummy back to school luncheon for our staff, for already providing our Challenge Accepted  t-shirts for staff (we looked awesome at convocation and throughout the school today!) and for planning back to school events such as our Kindergarten playdate as well as tonight's back to school picnic.  We are so grateful also for our new bike rack and outdoor classroom in the courtyard.  The rack was full of bikes this morning and the tables have already been used!  We will include some photos next week if you don’t get a chance to check them out at the picnic tonight.  We love teaming up with our PTA and can’t wait for more fun activities this fall and all year long!

Hole the Date:Our school wide open house is scheduled for Thursday September 14th from 6:00 - 8:00.  Save the date and time for now -- more information will follow next week.  We are so looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Fourth and Fifth Grade Families, if your child is interested in learning how to play a musical instrument and you haven’t already done so, please visit the Music Department Website and click on the Registration tab to let us know.

We have exciting news! Attendance and Dismissal Reminders: If your child is absent, please log in and report their absence through the  PowerSchool Parent PortalIf you have a change in dismissal, please remember to send in a note, or email your child’s teacher and our secretary Miss Jones (jjones@milforded.org) and our greeter Mrs. Megan Ansaldo (mansaldo@milforded.org).  It is important to email all three in the case that one or more of our staff is absent that day.  Additionally, please be patient with us as we ask for IDs at the beginning of the year.  It is important that our staff can confirm who you are prior to releasing your child -- this is for the safety and protection of our students.  As we get to know you, we won’t ask for your identification every time - however, if our regular staff is out, we will need to do so again.

Milford Food Services Reminder: The following changes are in place regarding our Milford Food Service offerings:

  • Breakfast meals will be FREE OF CHARGE for ALL students in the Milford Public Schools.
  • For students who QUALIFY for free or reduced-price meals, (determined by the completion of the Free/Reduced Price Meals Application or via Direct Certification), lunch meals will continue to be offered free of charge.
  • For students who DO NOT QUALIFY for Free/Reduced-Price Meals, lunch meals will be offered at full price which is $3.35.  Click here to link to the Food Service Webpage for information on buying school lunches.
  • If you have questions, please call the Foodservice Department at (203) 783-3490.

We strongly encourage everyone to review the Free/Reduced Meals Application as many of the income benchmarks have changed over the past 2 years – and you may now qualify even if you haven’t in the past

Chromebook Insurance Reminder: You Can Renew When You Enter the Parent Portal - Many parents have reached out to us to ask about Chromebook Insurance.  We are happy to report that our low-cost Chromebook Insurance program is WELL worth the annual renewal fee ($25 per year).  If you’ve got kids, then you already know there’s always the potential for something to happen to the Chromebook during the year: cracked screen, broken hinges, water damage, just to name a few.  Do yourself a favor. Purchase the insurance – it will give you peace of mind and save you a lot of aggravation when something goes wrong.  You can renew your insurance right on your Parent Portal account when you first sign in next.  If you have any questions, please contact our BIDS dept. at (203) 783-3446
