Good Afternoon Meadowside Families,

Congratulations to all our raffle winners for our Read Across America Week!  Thanks to all the students who brought in their bingo boards and to our families who sent in photos of their families reading.  Keep up the AWESOME reading and click here to enjoy our family reading video - What a great celebration of reading!!! Thank you to our PTA for their generous donations for our raffle prizes as well as for putting the video together!

Also -- check out some of the pictures from our World Language teacher Senora Gonzalez -- Not only can you check out photos from our incredible celebration of reading at the Milford Public Library which includes books our students wrote in Spanish, but you can also see our students collaborating together in the World Language classroom.   Thank you Senora!  

Meadowside Mindfulness in Residence Program - Thanks to the generous funding from our PTA, our students will be engaging in a three part series of mindfulness activities that will help them connect, breathe, move and focus. Led by instructor Melissa Andersen of Just Be Yoga in Milford these activities will help support emotional regulation, social emotional learning and help prepare them for the week. Please have students bring a yoga mat or towel each Monday during their three week cycle.  Grades 1, 2, 5: 3/13, 3/20,  3/27  Grades K, 3, 4: 4/3, 4/17, 4/24.  Thank you to our PTA for bringing us this in residence program!

Meadowside Presents Career Day is going to be in person on April 19th and we are looking for parents to share their careers with our students! .  Please click here for more information including a link to sign up to be a presenter.  

This week's Community Connection Center's Newsletter: This week's Community Connection Center's Newsletter (CCC News)  has an experience survey from the Milford Arts Council.  Also you will see  links for,  ADAMS HOUSE's  "Helping Hearts Heal" program, Milford Public's Library's events and Stamford's Museum & Nature Center's  "Maple Sugar Fest", this Sunday March 12, 2023.    Each week information about Milford's providers & their programs are listed.   And don't forget that the CCC website is also updated with links to community resources. Next week is Girl Scout Week and the local regional Girl Scouts have quite a week planned!  'Let Your Green Shine Through' Day is on MONDAY, March 13th.  Girl Scouts have been asked to wear their favorite GS gear (uniform, sweatshirt, etc.) to school to represent their organization on Monday.  Please click HERE to see what else they have planned for the week ahead.

If you haven’t done so already, please Sign up Now for Parent/Teacher Conferences.  Conference Times and Dates are as follows: Wednesday, March 29th   5:30-8:00 p.m.  /  Thursday,  March 30th   1:45-3:45 p.m.  /  Friday, March 31st    1:45-3:45 p.m.  Please remember that you can sign up to visit our specialists, counselors and special education teachers as well as our grade level teachers.  As in the fall, if you would like your conference to be virtual, please reach out directly to the staff member for their google meet link.  The last day to sign up online is Sunday , March 26th.

District Reminder: The participants in the People Empowering People (PEP) program will be conducting a Toasty Toes Sock Drive all month for the benefit of the Beth-El Center here in Milford.  Collection boxes will be placed at each school next week and you are encouraged to donate one (or more!) pair of new socks for the cause.  Here’s a FLIER that explains more.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Kindergarten Registration reminder: 

We are pleased to announce that Kindergarten Registration for the 2023-2024  school year will take place during February and March.   If you have a child who will be starting Kindergarten in the fall, registration information will be posted to the district website www.milforded.org on February 21, 2023.  You must register your child for Kindergarten at the school determined by your street address, unless placed by Pupil Personnel Services.  School/Street Assignments are available on the district website under “District Information.

Students must be at least age five (5) on or before December 31, 2023, in order to register for Kindergarten.  

Current MPS preschool or Ready To Learn students do not need to complete an online registration packet.

If you need assistance with the registration portal,  please contact the main office for your district assigned school. School contact information can be found on the district website under “ Schools.” 

We are excited for your children to come to our schools!  Fully registered families, please be on the lookout for more information from your school’s Principal about an in person kindergarten event in the spring. In the meantime, click here for a sneak peek of what to expect in Kindergarten!
