Hello Bulldog Families,
It was a busy week for Bulldogs this week. First thank you to all that shared your appreciation for our staff this week. We felt the love from all of you and thanks to our PTA and families for all the goodies across the week! We completed one more fire drill and have one more planned fire and lockdown drill to go for the year. Congratulations to all the Mathewson artists that had pieces shared at our art show. Our Parsons Building looked so beautiful with the district art work this week. Thank you to the many families that came out to celebrate our art! Congratulations to our Fourth Grade Musicians (and Fifth Grade Band students) that held wonderful day and night concerts this week! We had a full house at our night concert. Thank you to all the families that came to celebrate with us. Thanks to our PTA also for hosting our Plant Sale today! We hope all of our Bulldog Mom and Mother figures have a fabulous weekend ahead!
Next week we look forward to our last PTA Meeting on Tuesday Night and Career Day on Friday. We will also wrap up our testing sessions hopefully.
We have lots of fun and learning still to go but we couldn’t do it without all of you! Thank you always for your support and have a PAWsome weekend!

Upcoming Information and Dates to Know:
Family Input Form for Mathewson 24-25 SY Placement, take a moment and help share some thoughts about your child’s placement for the 24-25 school year through this link. This closes on Monday!
Career Day will be May 17th. We look forward to inviting community and family members into our building to help teach our children about a number of careers! More information to come.
We look forward to our Memorial Day Poppy Planting event again this year! Students create poppies of thanks and then decorate the Mathewson Front Lawn. We are planning to “plant” our poppies on either May 23rd or 24th during the day based on our weather forecasts.
Field Day is scheduled for May 29th with a rain date of May 30th. If you did not sign up yet but plan to attend please complete this google form so we can pre-print your name tag for you. Attention 5th Grade Families: Is your child going to Harborside or West Shore for the 24-25 SY? If so be sure to attend the virtual information nights coming up HMS Virtual Family Information Night on May 22nd and WSMS Virtual Family Night on May 20th.
Grade 5 Families we are planning on celebrating our fifth graders completing elementary school with a fun farewell event on Tuesday June 4th (Rain date of Thursday June 6th). This will hold fun events for the students and then a part for families to attend as well. More information to come soon.

Thank you to all that attended our April Meeting!….. Our last PTA Meeting of the year is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14th @ 7 pm in the Media Center.
Please come and help us vote in our 2024-2025 PTA Board!
We will have our last meeting on Tuesday, May 14th in the Library at 7:00. We will be holding elections and sharing lots of information about the end of the year! Childcare is provided by Foran Key Club.
PTA will be providing Kona Shaved Ice treats on Wednesday, May 22nd. Please see the flyer for allergen information and more details.
PTA provided treats and goodies to the teachers and staff this week as a small token of our appreciation for all of the work the teachers do in supporting our children all year long. We are so grateful for their dedication to our children and school community. Thank you, Mathewson Staff! Thank you to all of the families and local businesses that helped make this week special for the teachers.

News Already Shared But Still Important….
We love to celebrate your child’s birthday and make holidays throughout the year special; however, we do not allow goodie bags of any kind to come into school. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you wish to come in and be a guest reader for the class or hand out a pencil, crayons or bookmark instead. To ensure all items are safe for all children we just ask that a gift bag of any kind not come in for birthdays or holidays. Thank you.
Family Arrival and Dismissal Reminders (sent out in opening letter)
Student Absence Reporting Procedure:
The school attendance line is no longer the means for reporting student absence. A new requirement is for parents/guardians to fill out the Attendance Absence Form within PowerSchool any time their child is absent.
The procedure for notifying the school of your child’s early dismissal or late arrival is the same as previous years. If your child will be arriving/joining late or leaving early, please email the building secretary, the greeter and classroom teacher. Do Not fill out the PowerSchool form for late arrivals or early dismissals.
This form must be completed on the day the child is absent and must be completed on each day
Absent. If you fill out the form more than once in a day, only the latest will be seen.
The purpose of this form is to keep everyone safe and healthy by verifying the child’s symptoms.
1) Start by logging into PowerSchool (https://gradebook.milforded.org)
2) After logging in, click Forms in the left navigation.
Note: If you are on a phone’s browser and don’t see Forms at first, tap the little right-facing
arrow in the upper-left corner to show the left navigation.
3) If you have more than one child, make sure you click/tap the correct child’s name in the
upper-left corner first.
4) On the Forms page, look for the Attendance section. Click/tap the Attendance Absence Form -
Parents link.
Note: If the form never loads, please make sure you are not using the Firefox web browser.
5) Answer Yes or No to the questions and then click/tap Submit.
