Hello JFK Families!

We had a great PTO meeting this past Wednesday and a lot of great ideas were shared! Thank you to the PTO Board and all the parents who attended this meeting. Please make sure you see the PTO news section below to see the fun and exciting events the PTO is planning!

I also wanted to thank Mrs. Rosengrant and Mrs. Depuma for organizing a great World Read Aloud Day at JFK this past Wednesday. We had many special visitors in our classrooms including parents, district supervisors, and Dr. Cutaia! It was a great day and the students really seemed to enjoy having the guest readers in their classroom!

 Have a great weekend!

Mr. Brennan

February is Black History Month - Throughout the year, there are many celebrations focused on acknowledging the history and contributions of different groups.  Black History Month begins on February 1. Milford Public Schools continues our commitment to celebrating diversity and the unique gifts and experiences of our Milford Public Schools students, families and staff that make our community so special. Our ongoing goal is to provide opportunities for all learners to see themselves within our curriculum.  If you would like to explore some of the Black History Events events happening across the state you can visit: https://www.ctvisit.com/articles/black-history-month-activities-connecticut

Specialist Spotlight - STEM

Hi JFK Families!

Since winter break, students have been working hard on studying light and sound, as well as weather, and even engineering and 3D printing! Coming up, we will start talking about landforms and maps, forces and motion, and energy! For this week's video I tried out a color experiment with very simple materials. Please feel free to give some feedback through the google form link below!

Attention String Parents  - On Monday, January 22, your child's string teacher emailed an important communication about an upcoming concert with musician, Mark Wood.  Please be sure to review the letter and complete the t-shirt order form by February 3.  As a reminder, parents are able to order tickets for this event ahead of the public (link is included in the letter).  It is encouraged that tickets are ordered early as we anticipate a large response for this event once it is opened to the public.  If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact your child's string teacher.  Thank you all for your support of this!

A Note from Nurse Jeffrey: Please review the test-mask-go policy regarding covid-like illness at the following link. The policy is also found on the Milford Health Department website under School Health Division, Covid-19 Information.

NEW Afterschool STEAM Program for 3rd-5th Grade!

We are excited to announce that the PTO is partnering with the Milford STEAMers to host a new afterschool STEAM Invention program for 3rd-5th graders. Over the course of 7 weeks, students will learn about the process of inventing by working in teams to identify a problem to solve, creating a prototype of their idea and pitching their final invention at the Invention Convention. The program is $90, which includes all materials, and is limited to the first 30 registrants. Go here to sign-up today!

5th grade Family Yearbook Info

Attention 5th grade families! Each year the PTO purchases a yearbook for every 5th grade student, but we need your help to make it special! Please read this letter for important info about the yearbook, and check out our new online option for easily uploading pictures, including a baby picture of your child! We want to see your JFK memories, so get those photos uploaded by Friday, March 3rd, so we have time to include them in the final layout!
