Hello JFK Families!
Hawk-a-thon was amazing! The teachers and students did a great job running/walking laps and also cheering on other classrooms and grade levels!! The PTO had a great idea of providing us (Mrs. Kirby, Mrs. Fuller, and me) with 3 costumes (rock, paper, scissors) to wear throughout the event. Any time a student saw us in the hallway, the classroom, or on the field, they could ask us to play. I think I broke a record for the number of Rock-Paper-Scissors games played in one day! It really added to the fun of the day! The students seemed to have so much fun today, please ask them all about it! We had a large group of parent volunteers to help cheer our students on today, it was great to have your help! Thank you! I also wanted to say thank you to all our families for all your support as well!
Our PTO has been working closely with the school to introduce our new Hawk mascot! We wanted our students to have the opportunity to help name this new hawk. They have been doing a great job coming up with creative names! We are in the process of finalizing the naming process and we are looking forward to naming our new hawk next week!
Have a great weekend!
Mr. Brennan

Hello JFK Families and Friends!
We have had an exciting and educational start to the school year in Physical Education! Pre-K, kindergarten, first and second grade are learning about personal space. We are listening to personal space songs and stories and practicing moving in personal space while playing transformers! In third, fourth and fifth grade we are working on fitness. We are learning about cardiovascular endurance with tag games and cardio desk drumming, muscular endurance with interval training and muscular endurance challenges and flexibility with static and dynamic stretching. We will be working toward taking the CT physical fitness test this winter which includes push-ups, curl-ups, the sit and reach and the PACER tests. Each of these targets one of our three components of fitness.
Thank you all for being aware of what day your student has P.E. on so they come with sneakers! As the weather gets colder, you may want to send your student to school in boots, be sure to pack their sneakers in their backpacks on P.E. days!
Thank you!
Ms. Anastasiou

Great work, JFK!!
Trunk or Treat is Next Week!
Trunk or Treat is a fun chance for all JFK families to dress up and go “trick or treating” around the school parking lot! Families volunteer to decorate the trunks of their cars and hand out candy. It’s happening on Friday, 10/21 from 6-7:30 in the JFK front parking lot! (rain date is 10/28). Check out the flyer with more details! If you want to decorate your trunk, click here to sign up!
