Hello JFK Families,

Hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy. We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet some of our future students at our Kickoff to Kindergarten event this week for incoming kindergarteners. It was also great to meet all the new families and see some of our current ones!! I want to give a special thank you to our PTO members, Liz Shipman and Jennifer Conroy, for taking the time to support our newest families by letting them know about all the great things that they do to enhance our school! This week was also when our 5th grade students visited the middle schools to learn a little about next year and the transition to middle school. We are going to miss our fifth grade students, but we know they will do great things!

We are looking forward to the Morris Brothers, a live music assembly with a positive message, this upcoming Monday. Thank you to our PTO for sponsoring this event! Make sure you ask your children all about it!

Have a great weekend!

Mr. Brennan

Specialist Spotlight - Art

Hi JFK Families!

It is art show season! This year, the art show will be virtual where selected student work will be on display. A link will be sent out in early June! I’m so proud of our amazing artists and it has been wonderful watching their creativity blossom throughout the year!

Kindergarten has been working on creating hot air balloons full of many different shapes and patterns. Grades 1 and 5 have been working on a collaborative project. Both grades are painting a planter that will then be filled with seeds that they can watch grow! Grade 2 and 3 have been working on creating their own looms for weaving. These fiber wall-hangings are coming out beautifully and I’m excited for you to see them. Their persistence and eagerness to learn about a new kind of art has been inspiring! Grade 4 began working on their zentangle succulents! Their pieces are full of lots of color and pattern as they create a piece that helps them to focus on having a relaxing and calming mindset while they work.

I hope that students continue their art making practice outside of the art room!

Feel free to reach out to me with any art questions/ artwork you make at home at kbenedetti@milforded.org!
