Hello JFK Families,
I hope everyone is doing well! We had a great PTO meeting this past Wednesday and discussed some upcoming events and activities that we are planning during the school day. Thank you to our PTO for all their efforts to bring programs into our school!
Attention 5th grade families! The PTO needs your help collecting photos for the yearbook. They specifically need a baby picture of each kid, plus any additional photos you have of fun JFK activities from past years. You can send any photos to Stjohn.l@gmail.com. Thank you!
I also wanted to let you know that we are planning to conduct a safety drill at some point this week. Mrs. Fuller will send an email at the conclusion of the drill. Thank you for reviewing the importance of these drills with your children!
Have a great weekend!

School Attendance
Regular school attendance and overall student safety and well-being are always vital for laying a foundation for success during the school year. Paying attention to attendance is even more essential this year, given the unique challenges created by COVID-19 for schools, families, students, and community providers.
Stay home if you are sick! Complete the COVID-19 Daily Self Checklist at home before you send your child to school. If your child(ren) has any symptoms, no matter how mild they seem, do not send them to school. Notify your school of the absence using the current MPS Student Absence Reporting Procedure and your School Nurse will follow-up regarding next steps.
If your child is feeling well and answered “no” to the COVID-19 Daily Self Checklist, please send your child into school. We know that students learn best with regular attendance. In-person attendance each day is the best school experience for our students when other challenges do not prevent students from getting to their schools.
Specialist Spotlight - STEM
Hi JFK Families!
We are coming to a close with our second cycle of science for grades 2 and 4, as well as kindergarten. Our kindergarteners have done a tremendous job learning about forces and motion, and putting that knowledge into action! Grade 2 has been learning about various landforms on the earth, and modeling them with clay and playdough. Finally, fourth grade has been working hard on energy, including making their own electrical circuit! Coming up, we will switch our focus to light and sound in first grade, forces and motion with our third grade students, and Space systems for our fifth graders!
In today's video, Mr. Sabo will try to blow up a balloon without using the air from his breath!
