Hello JFK Families,

We are getting close to winter recess and the weather is still beautiful! I do love snow, but this nice weather is hard not to enjoy!!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our PTO fundraiser at Pop's Family Restaurant on Wednesday! Together we raised $400 for Milford Food 2 Kids to help feed families in our community this holiday season. Thank you all for your generosity!

We are looking forward to continuing our student learning next week and finishing strong! We are also reminding our students about the importance of following our mitigating strategies.  Thank you for reinforcing the expectations of proper mask wearing and social distancing with your children. We appreciate all your support!

Have a great weekend!

Mr. Brennan

Specialist Spotlight - Music

Music learning is alive and well at JFK! Our Pre-K, K, and grade 1 students continue to learn new songs and rhymes, focusing on accurate rhythms and steady beat. Ask them about “My Little Turtle”, or “Down by the Bay”. In grade 2, we have continued our focus on music literacy, reading both pitch and rhythm. Students have enjoyed learning and playing “Closet Key”, which also served as their first singing assessment. Grade 3 is nearly through all the instruments of the orchestra, and they seem to be excited about choosing an instrument for grade 4! Grade 4 has been studying “The Nutcracker” and its composer, Tchaikovsky. We are now watching the full ballet. In gr 5, we have studied the grand staff and time signatures, as we prepare to create our own ensembles and write compositions. Next week we will all enjoy music of the holidays!

I hope you all enjoy the holiday break, and seek opportunities to make music together! Feel free to reach out to me with any music questions at tvoss@milforded.org.
