SOARing through the Week at JFK
October 4, 2024
Hello, JFK Families!
This past week, we celebrated School Custodian Appreciation Week, and we want to give a big shout-out to our amazing custodial team, Mr. Dale, Mr. Mike & Mr. Pat, for all their hard work in keeping our school clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone! They are the best!
The highlight of the week was our fantastic Hawk-a-Thon fundraiser! It was a beautiful day and our whole school community had a blast while raising money for our school! A special shout out to the PTO and Mrs. Anastasiou for their organization of the event and to our Hawk-mazing staff who added some laughter at the end with a silly run! Be sure to check out the pictures included at the end of the newsletter that really highlight this special day. Thanks to your incredible support, our Hawk-a-thon was a huge success! Donations are still accepted until Sunday, so if you have any last minute pledges please send them!
Lastly, a reminder that Fall Conferences are just around the corner. Please remember to sign up for a conference with your child's teacher to discuss their progress and goals for the year. We look forward to seeing you there!
Have a great weekend, JFK! Remember to take care of yourself, our community and most of all BE KIND!

Specialist Spotlight
Hello JFK Families and Friends!
My name is Ms. Anastasiou and I am your student's P.E. (and Health) teacher. I am lucky enough to teach the entire school throughout the 2024-2025 school year! I was born and raised in Milford where I went to Calf Pen, East Shore and Foran. Now, I have been teaching P.E. in Milford for 13 years. Outside of teaching I love playing softball and volleyball but more than anything I love being a mom!
In Pre-K P.E. we have been exploring new equipment and ways to use it. So far, we have used items like scooters, tunnels and turtle stepping stones!
In Kindergarten, first and second grade P.E. we have been working on having self control by playing Pac Man tag, fire and ice tag and bee tag games. We are now moving on to personal space where we will practice staying in our space bubbles while we play transformers.
In third, fourth and fifth grade P.E. we are hard at work on fitness. We learned about cardiovascular endurance and tested out intensity levels with games like Pac Man tag, bee tag, triangle tag and fire and ice tag. We are now practicing muscular endurance with interval training with exercises like wall-sits, bench press, planks and bicep curls. Finally, fifth grade has begun health, where we are discussing nutrition and will ultimately make a simple and realistic nutrition goal.
I am having so much fun teaching P.E. this year! Let's keep SOARING!!!
Ms. Anastasiou

MPS Health Department Guidelines
All PK and K students need a physical on file dated within the last 12 months. Please send these in as soon as possible!
If clothing is borrowed from the school health office please wash and return :)
If possible, pack a spare set of clothes in your child's backpack. Accidents happen! Students can get wet on the playground or spill on themselves at lunch. It's always helpful to have extra clothing available.
