Hello, Hawk Families!
We have been SOARing into another great week of learning here at JFK! Our students’ enthusiasm for learning is inspiring. At home the best way to continue to support your child is to encourage nightly reading. Independent reading, reading to your child, or having them read to you are all ways to support literacy skills at home. We appreciate you helping your child develop a love of reading.

Elementary Parent Conferences will be held
Tuesday, October 15th, 1:45-3:45 pm

Please remember to send in a reusable water bottle with your child. Students have access to our water stations and can refill as necessary throughout the day.
Please label your child’s sweatshirts, jackets, lunch bag, and water bottle. Our Lost and Found continues to grow!
Picture Day - JFK Photo Day is October 8th. Our school prepay is now active until Oct.22nd. If there are underclass siblings in the same school, then you may enter the next child's name after placing the first child's package in the cart.
Also note, Robert Taylor offers the underclass 3rd child free package for the same school. You may prepay the first and second child's orders in the school's prepay when you list your third child it will be free. This is a special only available thru the end of the prepay period Oct.22nd and at the same school.

Hawks SOAR Awards - Our JFK Hawks SOAR award is designed to recognize student and staff behaviors and actions that enhance our school community and those individuals who exemplify citizenship within this community beyond the expected norms. When your child comes home with a sticker, please ask them how they SOARED that day!
Arrival and Dismissal Information Please do not leave students unattended at the school prior to 8:20am. If you are dropping off your child please pull all the way forward in line and remain in the car for safety. If you wish to get out of the car, please park in a designated parking spot and walk your child to the parking lot crosswalk. Mr. Kee will assist your child in crossing safely.
Dismissal Car Tags should be placed on your dashboard/mirror when lining up for pick up. We ask that you please do not line up in the parking lot prior to 3pm.
Specialist Spotlight
Welcome to Music at JFK! In music class, PreK - 1 is working on learning new songs, rhythms, and movements to help us become "tuneful, beat-ful, and artful". Grades 2 and 3 are exploring music literacy, reading pitches and rhythms and playing on instruments. Grade 4 and 5 began with a review of the function of rhythm, melody, and harmony in a song. Now Grade 4 is learning about being a member of a chorus, and Grade 5 has begun their deep dive into our National Anthem.

Featured this week : Saturday two free events ,Seymour Pumpkin Festival and Fairfield University's Family Day inspired by the legacy of ancient Greece. On Sunday come and see the great art work of our Milford youth at the PAINT YOUR PATH -SKATEBOARD EXHIBIT.

Be sure to send in any updated health forms!
MPS Health Department Guidelines
All PK and K students need a physical on file dated within the last 12 months. Please send these in as soon as possible!
If clothing is borrowed from the school health office please wash and return :)
If possible, pack a spare set of clothes in your child's backpack. Accidents happen! Students can get wet on the playground or spill on themselves at lunch. It's always helpful to have extra clothing available.

We welcome and encourage everyone to join the JFK PTO. Membership is simple and in no way commits you to volunteer and/or attend meetings (although we would love to have you).
