Hello, Hawk Families!
As we move into the second week of school, our classrooms are buzzing with excitement as students settle into their routines. Teachers are working closely with students to establish a sense of belonging by setting up class charters and creating a positive learning environment. These foundational steps help ensure that every child feels safe, respected, and ready to learn. A quick reminder: our "Back to School Picnic" is tonight, and we hope to see you there! It’s a great chance to connect as a school community, and we look forward to sharing a Hawk-some evening with you all.

Please remember to send in a reusable water bottle with your child. Students have access to our water stations and can refill as necessary throughout the day.
Picture Day - JFK Photo Day is October 8th. Our school prepay is now active until Oct.22nd. If there are underclass siblings in the same school, then you may enter the next child's name after placing the first child's package in the cart.
Also note, Robert Taylor offers the underclass 3rd child free package for the same school. You may prepay the first and second child's orders in the school's prepay when you list your third child it will be free. This is a special only available thru the end of the prepay period Oct.22nd and at the same school.

Fire Drill - Conducting emergency drills (fire, crisis, lockdown, etc.) is one of the most important ways we enhance our preparedness for students and staff during an emergency. Drills allow us to practice what we need to do when an emergency arises in our school.
Earlier today, JFK School conducted a fire drill. This was only a drill and was in accordance with the School Incident Management Protocols established by the district, in partnership with our local first responders. I am pleased to report that the drill was a success. It was efficient and timely. If you have any feedback please reach out to. I want to thank our students and staff for their interest and participation in making our schools a safer place for learning.
We will hold a crisis/lockdown drill on Monday, September 16th.
Hawks SOAR Awards - Our JFK Hawks SOAR award is designed to recognize student and staff behaviors and actions that enhance our school community and those individuals who exemplify citizenship within this community beyond the expected norms. When your child comes home with a sticker, please ask them how they SOARED that day!
Arrival and Dismissal Information Please read the linked arrival and dismissal information that was sent out via mail and linked here. If you are dropping off your child please pull all the way forward in line and remain in the car for safety. If you wish to get out of the car, please park in a designated parking spot and walk your child to the parking lot crosswalk. Mr. Kee will assist your child in crossing safely.
Dismissal Car Tags should be placed on your dashboard/mirror when lining up for pick up. We ask that you please do not line up in the parking lot prior to 3pm.

MPS Health Department Guidelines
All PK and K students need a physical on file dated within the last 12 months. Please send these in as soon as possible!
If clothing is borrowed from the school health office please wash and return :)
If possible, pack a spare set of clothes in your child's backpack. Accidents happen! Students can get wet on the playground or spill on themselves at lunch. It's always helpful to have extra clothing available.

Mum Sale
The JFK PTO online store is now open for the purchase of beautiful locally grown mums! These mums are absolutely amazing every year and come in an array of colors to choose from in either 8" or 12" pots. Orders are due by September 12th and will be picked up on October 2nd.
