SOARing through the Week at JFK
Hello JFK Families!
What an exciting week it’s been for our learning community! We held our Pink Out! On Wednesday and together our learning community raised $443 for Milford’s Get in Touch Foundation in support of breast cancer awareness. Thank you to our staff and families for your generous support. Enjoy the amazing photos below taken around the school on Wednesday.
Today our PTO sponsored our PJ and a Movie day for our school in celebration of meeting our fundraising goal for the Hawk-a-thon. Each grade level enjoyed a break in the day to view a movie together. At the end of this newsletter you will see a few pictures that captured the fun! Naturally, the main event this week that our students are eagerly anticipating is our annual Trunk or Treat! We can’t wait to see everyone this evening at 6pm! It’s bound to be a wonderful evening for the kids! Thank you PTO for making these special events happen this week.
I encourage you to ask your child about “Kindness Notes” that are beginning to spread around our learning community. Anyone can give them out to another person and we hope that it will continue to serve as a reminder of how kind acts spread from one person to another.
Have a wonderful weekend, JFK! I hope to see many of you tonight. Enjoy the time with family and friends and most of all, BE KIND!

Specialist Spotlight - Music
Music learning is moving right along here at JFK! We have been working hard the past couple of weeks preparing for our Veterans Day celebration next week! Every student will be singing one of our patriotic songs, to honor our Veteran guests. Ask your child to sing their song for you–it is good practice for them! Beyond our patriotic songs, we are continuing to work on many other aspects of music learning. Grades K and 1 are learning new songs, and have enjoyed playing hand percussion, working on keeping a steady beat. Grade 2 has been using their music reading and ear training in new ways, plotting notes on the staff and playing hand percussion. Grade 3 has begun their study of the orchestral instruments. Ask them how sound is produced on a string instrument! Grade 4 is learning to sing and read all the steps of the scale, and will apply that learning next to writing melodies. Grade 5 is preparing their Winter Concert, which is on Tuesday, Dec 5th, at 6:30pm. Grade 5 families, please watch for a letter to come home next week with all of the concert details. Please reach out if you have any questions. Hope to see you soon!
