Hawks’ Herald
SOARing through the Week at JFK
Hello JFK Families!
Thank you to our staff and our families for a very successful parent conference week! As I have said before, the partnership between home and school is a key component to students’ success and to the success of our learning community. The better our communication between home and school, the better we can best meet the needs of each of our learners. Thank you for being valuable members of that partnership and for sharing your children with us!
I’d also like to take the opportunity to thank the PTO for a Hawk-mazing book fair this week. Each JFK learner was able to purchase a book. There is nothing better than hearing students buzz with excitement over books and reading! A special thank you to our Media Specialist, Mrs. Soder, for working with classroom teachers to make sure each class had time in the book fair.
That’s all for now, JFK! While it’s yet another rainy weekend I hope you will maintain your Hawk Pride and remember to BE KIND!
In partnership,
Amy E. Rizzo

Specialist Spotlight -STEM
Hi JFK families!
In the science lab, we have just finished working on space systems and exploring the relationship between the Earth, sun and moon in Grade 5. Our third graders just finished a unit on habitats and ecosystems that took us on a field trip to the Milford Point Audubon society!
In the coming weeks, we will have grades 1 and 4 into the lab, working on living things, and changes to the Earth, respectively.
Also, please check out this video on hydrophobic materials!
