Hello JFK Families!

We had another great assembly today brought to us by our amazing PTO.  Darren Sardelli engaged our students creatively and actively in the process of writing poetry. He discussed the journey that led him to his passion for writing. Mr. Sardelli emphasized to our students that you should never give up on your dreams!  Please see the news section below for more details.

We are looking forward to officially welcoming Ms. Brenda Anziano to the JFK community Monday morning. Ms. Anziano has already visited our school and had the opportunity to meet some of our students and staff. This upcoming week, I will work closely with Ms. Anziano to help ensure a smooth transition. Ms. Anziano’s email is banziano@milforded.org  Please join me in welcoming her to the JFK community!

Tonight is the PTO sponsored school dance - A Night Out In Hollywood. I am looking forward to seeing everyone for this fun-filled activity!

Have a great weekend!

In the Spotlight -  Physical Education

Hello JFK Families and Friends!

We spent the past few weeks continuing our work on hand-eye coordination with some fun games! FIrst, we played pin-down where we worked on underhand rolling to knock over other people's bowling pins, it was fun but challenging! After that we played monster ball where we tried to keep the monster ball out of our team's space by overhand or underhand throwing gatorskin and fleece balls at it! This gave us a great cardiovascular workout as well!!! Finally, some of our youngest students are working on our hand-eye coordination by using the parachute. We are learning how to make popcorn and go on merry-go-round rides while holding on tight to the parachute! It has been a fun spring so far and we look forward to continuing the learning with as much outdoor P.E. as possible in the final weeks of school!!!

Playground with the Principal - Tuesday 4/25!

Teacher Appreciation Week is Coming!

In a couple of weeks, we’ll celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week with a number of fun activities for all our JFK staff. This year, we really want to make sure every staff member feels appreciated, so rather than purchasing individual gifts for all your child’s teachers, you can simply donate a gift card (around $10), and the PTO will take care of the rest!

If you do send one in, please send it in a sealed envelope with “JFK PTO” written on the outside. You can also email ptojfk@gmail.com with any questions, and thank you for helping make all our JFK staff feel the love!

The Spring Plant Sale is ON!

It’s time for beautiful Spring flowers! Don’t forget to order your 16” hanging baskets by 4/28. All students will again have a chance to shop our “plant sale” with their class on Friday, 5/12. Plants will be $4 per 6-pack or $5 per

4" pot. If you expect your child to fully stock their own garden, please send in a small box to make sure all seedlings get home safely. See the flyer for more info!

Tonight is Spring Dance Time!

If you signed-up, don’t forget that the JFK Spring Dance is TONIGHT from 6-8pm in the JFK gym! See the flyer for more info. It’s $5 per family at the door, and we’ll have really cool raffle prizes to give away throughout the night. If you want to buy raffle tickets, bring extra cash!

Campus Kindness Project Off To Great Start!

Thank you to all the 5th graders and families who helped cut out the decorative tiles that will be used in our kindness mosaic! These will be incorporated into a new 6'x8' mosaic mural in the hallway just inside the front entrance at JFK. The design is being created with Ben’s Bells, a national organization dedicated to encouraging kindness among individuals and communities. The process will have multiple steps, so all JFK students will be able to participate and leave their own kind mark on our school. Stay tuned for more!

Mark Your Calendars for the Yard Goats - 6/10!

We are so excited to be hosting a JFK families night at the Hartford Yard Goats baseball game on Saturday, June 10th!
