Hello JFK Families!
We had a great assembly today for our grades 3 - 5 students called CT Legends and Lore! The students heard all types of historical facts about the state of CT. Don’t forget to ask them all about it! Thank you to our PTO for providing this great opportunity for our students!!
Just a reminder that if you are interested in playing a role on the PTO Board next year, you can reach out to Sandie DiNicola ASAP for more information. Sandie.dinicola@gmail.com It’s a great way to help shape our JFK community.
Have a great weekend!

Week of the Young Child - Next week, we will be celebrating the national Week of the Young Child in our PK classrooms and can’t wait to see all the activities that will take place! Here’s a fridge-worthy poster for you to keep track of each day’s theme.
The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. It also is a time to recognize that children’s opportunities are our responsibilities, and to recommit ourselves to ensuring that each and every child experiences the type of early environment – at home, at child care, at school, and in the community – that will promote their early learning. This annual event is coordinated by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
YMCA News - Healthy Kids Day is coming up. Please join them on Saturday, April 29 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. See the attached flier for more information.

In the Spotlight - Art
Happy Spring JFK!
Creativity has sprung in the art room as we make all kinds of artworks! Kindergarteners are learning all about printmaking to create flower gardens! First graders are learning about artist Romero Britto to create vibrant pattern flowers. Second graders are making underwater artworks and learning about the Japanese fish printing technique called gyotaku. Third graders are working on their Henri Matisse inspired fish bowl still life. Fourth graders are using different watercolor techniques to create their very own planets. Lastly, fifth graders have been working in our art centers to use everything they have learned throughout their time at JFK to create wonderful works of art. Some students are weaving, some are sewing, and some are building cardboard sculptures.
As always, I’d love to see the artworks made by students at home!
