Hello JFK Families!

We have an exciting week coming up with events like the PTO sponsored assembly What Do You Do with the Mad That You Feel  for our K-2 students and our school based picture day on Wednesday.  If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check out the Spring Events Calendar from the PTO to see all the fun things planned for the rest of the year.

Spring Photos - Pictures will be taken on Wednesday, March 22nd.  This is a proof program.  No money is due on the day of photography.  Please see the attached flier for more details.  

Career Day Information - We are so excited to have our second annual, first in person, Career Day this year! Please see the attached flier for more details about how your family or friends can get involved in this event.

Scholastic Book Fair - The JFK Spring Scholastic Book Fair is Wednesday, March 29 - Friday, March 31. Students will shop the fair with their class and families are welcome to shop during conference times. If you would like to volunteer to help students shop,  please use this link to sign up. If you are interested in learning how to run the book fair, please reach out to Jen Conroy at jlconroy23@gmail.com. Thank you for your continued support in helping bring books to all our students. 

YMCA News - Healthy Kids Day is coming up.  Please join them on Saturday, April 29  from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  See the attached flier for more information.

Kindergarten Registration - We are pleased to announce that Kindergarten Registration for the 2023-2024  school year will take place during February and March.   If you have a child who will be starting Kindergarten in the fall, registration information will be posted to the district website www.milforded.org on February 21, 2023.  You must register your child for Kindergarten at the school determined by your street address, unless placed by Pupil Personnel Services.  School/Street Assignments are available on the district website under “District Information.

  • Students must be at least age five (5) on or before December 31, 2023, in order to register for Kindergarten.  

  • Current MPS preschool or Ready To Learn students do not need to complete an online registration packet.

  • If you need assistance with the registration portal,  please contact the main office for your district assigned school. School contact information can be found on the district website under “ Schools.” 

We are excited for your children to come to our schools!  Fully registered families, please be on the lookout for more information from your school’s Principal about an in person kindergarten event in the spring. In the meantime, click here for a sneak peek of what to expect in Kindergarten!  We look forward to welcoming the Class of 2036!

Conferences - We are pleased to announce our Spring 2023 Elementary Conference Schedule: 

  • Wednesday, March 29th 5:30-8:00 p.m.

  • Thursday, March 30th1:45-3:45 p.m.

  • Friday, March 31st 1:45-3:45 p.m.

  • *Please note that we will have a modified early dismissal time on the conference days to accommodate the conference schedule.  Therefore, students will be dismissed on March 29th, March 30th, and March 31st at 1:15pm. 

  • Parents/guardians will once again have the opportunity to select a conference time through My Conference Time.   All conferences will be in person unless a  parent/guardian requests a Google Meet link directly from the teacher.  Spring conference sign up  information will be  live on our school website from  February 27 at 9:00 a.m. through March 27 at 12:00 p.m.  If you prefer a  virtual session, please contact the teacher to request a Google Meet link to conduct your conference virtually after you have confirmed your conference time through My Conference Time Online Scheduler.   We are looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s learning! 

  • Quick tip: Look for emails from “noreply@myconferencetime.com” when searching email for conference confirmation communications. 

Toasty Toes Sock Drive - Help the Beth-El Center continue to assist our neighbors in beed by donating new socks.  See the attached flier for more information.

Community Connection Center - This week's Community Connection Center's Newsletter (CCC News)  has links for The USDA , websites for parents to find information about summer camps in CT &  Milford  programs that are accepting camp registrations now!          

 Each week information about Milford's providers & their programs are listed.   And don't forget that the CCC website is also updated with links to community resources. Have a fun St.  Pattrick's day & a great week!

In the Spotlight - STEM

Hi JFK Families,

This week I created a video modeling an experiment that is very cool but also requires adult supervision because it involves electricity! Please don't forget to click the google form to give a quick bit of feedback as well! Students have been studying hard in the lab the last month or so, covering topics like forces and motion, maps and landforms, and energy and waves! Check out the video here:

Calling All JFK Grown-Ups! 

Mark your calendars and hire the babysitter, because we’re having a night out for all the grown-ups in our JFK community! It’ll be Friday, 3/31 from 6-8pm at Liberty Rock Tavern. This is a great chance to meet and hangout with other JFK families. Hope to see you there!

Two Fun March Assemblies! 

We’ve got two exciting assemblies scheduled for 3/21 and 3/31! First, the K-2 kids will see a performance by Will Parker titled “What do you do with the mad you feel?” and then the 3-5th graders will learn about some of CT’s legends from Carol Glynn. Both are through Connecticut’s Arts for Learning program, so we’re looking forward to two fun days!
