Hello JFK Families!

This short week flew by! Don’t forget about the PTO sponsored Skate Night this weekend! Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend as I have a conflict, but it is always a great time at the ice rink! I happened to be there a little while back and saw some JFK families, it was a blast! Thank you to our PTO for organizing this event!

The PTO is hard at work on the 5th grade yearbook, and they need your photos by next week! Check out the PTO News section for more info on how to easily submit pictures of your child’s time at JFK.

There is a ton of new information in this week’s newsletter, please take a few minutes to check it out!

Have a great weekend!

In the Spotlight - Media

February is a short month but it's full of great things to learn about in the Media Center. From Valentine's Day to Presidents' Day to Black History Month, we have explored seasonal topics while building coding, technology and creative thinking skills. The upper grades are wrapping up a unit on research skills, practicing summarizing and giving credit to information sources. The lower grades completed an author study on Tedd Arnold, so if your child wasn't obsessed with Fly Guy before, they might be now! Best wishes for a safe and happy end of winter!

Milford United Soccer Club - See the attached flier for more information.

Toasty Toes Sock Drive - Help the Beth-El Center continue to assist our neighbors in beed by donating new socks.  See the attached flier for more information.

Free School Breakfast and Lunch - Free school breakfast and lunch at no cost to all students from March 1, 2023, through the remainder of school year (SY) 2022-23.

  • We are pleased to announce our return to school meals free of charge for all students beginning March 1, 2023 continuing through June 30, 2023.  All students are provided with one school breakfast and one school lunch every school day free of charge.  Students may purchase “A La Carte” foods separately from school meals such as chips, cookies, water and second meals (variety varies by grade level.)

  • As you may know, there are a variety of ways for families to arrange payment for a la carte purchases and previously purchased meals:

  • Titan/My School Lunch: an online payment portal where families can deposit funds for their child’s/ren’s

  • Checks: Families may choose to submit a check (along with a deposit slip) that will be forwarded to the school cafeteria.  Please make checks payable to: Milford School Foodservice.

  • Cash is not recommended and will only be accepted as a prepayment on account. As we are unable to give change.

  • Free or Reduced- Price Meal Applications:

  • Even as our district continues to provide free meals to all students, we still ask families to submit school meal applications because meal applications may be used for providing discounted school fees.  In addition,  our schools receive important funding and resources based on the number of approved free and reduced applications.

  • If you have not done so and would like to apply, please complete a Free/Reduced Price Application. Only one application is needed per family; if you have more than one child attending a school in our district, you only need to submit one application for all children.
