Another interesting winter weather week is in the books. We went from near 60 degree weather mid-week to snow and sleet at week’s end. You have to love New England weather. 

Please take a moment to read over a few important updates and reminders.

                                                         

  •  Masks - 

    • While masks will be optional effective February 28, 2022, well- fitting masks will continue to be required on school bus transportation, in accordance with Federal orders

    • Individuals entering the School Nurses’ offices may be required to wear a mask upon entry in accordance with CDC and CT DPH recommended infection control practices, for the protection of staff and students in the Nurse’s Office.

  • March Conferences - 

    • We are pleased to announce our Spring 2022 Middle School Virtual Conference Schedule: 

      • Wednesday, March 30th  1:00-3:00 p.m.     

      • Thursday, March 31st  5:30-8:00 p.m.     

    • *Please note that we will have a modified early dismissal time on the conference days to accommodate the conference schedule.  Therefore, students will be dismissed on March 30th and March 31st at 12:35pm. 

    • Our spring conferences will be held virtually and parents/guardians will once again have the opportunity to select a conference time through MyConferenceTime. 

    • Spring conference sign up  information will be  live on our school website from  February 28 at 9:00 a.m. through March 25 at 12:00 pm . Quick tip: Look for emails from “noreply@myconferencetime.com” when searching email for conference confirmation communications. 

    • Scheduling Reminder - 

      • Due to limited slots available per teacher, it is not possible for every parent/guardian to meet with every one of their child’s teachers. Therefore, parents/guardians are asked to limit their selection to two core teachers (Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, French, and Spanish) and three Unified Arts teachers (Phys. Ed., Art, Music, Tech Ed, and Health). 

      • If parents/guardians wish to meet with additional core/unified art teachers or the team as a whole please contact the specific teacher or team to set up a mutually agreed upon time, during the school day, outside of the conference dates to meet. 

      • Parents/guardians can also schedule meetings with the school counselor, social worker, psychologist, speech and language, and special education teachers using this system.

  • KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION - 

    • We are pleased to announce that Kindergarten Registration for the 2022-2023 school year will take place during February and March.   

    • If you have a child who will be starting Kindergarten in the fall, registration information will be posted to the district website www.milforded.org on February 22, 2022.  

      • You must register your child for Kindergarten at the school determined by your street address, unless placed by Pupil Personnel Services.  School/Street Assignments are available on the district website under “District Information.

    • Students must be at least age five (5) on or before December 31, 2022, in order to register for Kindergarten.  

    • Current MPS preschool or Ready To Learn students do not need to complete an online registration packet.

    • If you need assistance with the registration portal,  please contact the main office for your district assigned school. School contact information can be found on the district website under “ Schools.”  

    • We are excited for your children to come to our schools!  Fully registered families, please be on the lookout for more information from your school’s Principal about an in person kindergarten event in the spring.   • Yearbook Ordering - 

    • Yearbooks are on sale now for $27.  

    • You can order your child's yearbook by clicking here Yearbook Order  OR you can go to ybpay.lifetouch.com

    • You can select Harborside Middle School or enter our code 10453022 to place your order.            

  • Student Absences and Early Pick Up - 

    • To report an absence, parents need to log into PowerSchool and click on “Forms”  to enter an absence.

    • If you need to pick up your child early for an appointment, please come to the front door with your driver license as you will need to check in with the Greeter and sign out your child. 

      • If the early pick-up is known prior to the start of school, please send in a note with your child in the morning to give to our Greeter, Mrs.Tilt, or email ktilt@milforded.org. Our Greeter will then give your child an early release pass to come to the lobby to make the pick up more efficient.

                                   

  • Wednesday, March 9 - No school for students and professional learning for staff

  • Wednesday, March 16 - Early release for students at 12:45 p.m. and professional learning for staff

  • Wednesday, March 30 and Thursday, March 31 - Parent teacher virtual conferences. Students will be dismissed at 12:35 PM on these days. 

  • Conference Dates:

    • Wednesday, March 30 - 1:00 - 3:00 PM

    • Thursday, March 31 - 5:30 - 8:00 PM
